While hunting, trying to shake off the events of the previous moon, Sadiesong smells the familiar tang of blood. She pauses, instructing Newtpaw to remain here with a flick of her tail. She follows the trail to find a scarlet soaked body dumped in the river, a deep gash across their throat and stomach accompanied by several smaller, clumsier wounds. The water clears some of the blood away to reveal a hint of white and yellow fur. Nectarnose has been murdered.

(Please DO NOT go into the code breaking commands section to figure out who did it. It just kind of spoils the fun for everyone and it's less satisfying than figuring it out yourself. I mean there's a good chance this goes unsolved but like I don't think many cats care that Nectarnose is dead. Goddamnit Wattpad, why did you remove PMs?)

Medicine cats can choose to /speak with StarClan (which can only be done every six moons) and the leader has the choice to close the case (/move on from murder) if they wish to do so. The leader can also use /investigate once to get random bits of information about the murder.

Next moon, 6 cats (most of them innocent) will be chosen at random to be put on trial and the clan can vote on who they think is guilty.

Later, when preparing Nectarnose's body for the vigil, Webpaw finds a tuft of fur in the dead tom's claws. It's too bloodstained to tell exactly what it is but he can tell it's a darker colour.

Ashpaw will now be mentored by Fernflame.

On their first proper patrol, Sunpaw and Ashpaw stray away from Fernflame and Lightningsnow. Sunpaw challenges Ashpaw to climb the tallest tree in the forest- a large, imposing beech tree.

When Ashpaw, fearing injury, refuses, Sunpaw scoffs and calls him a mouseheart, before proudly insisting he'll show him how easy it is. Ashpaw watches uneasily as his brother scales the icy bark of the beech tree, calling up to him to be careful.

Sunpaw almost reaches the top before he slips on a particularly icy branch, plummeting to the ground. By the time Lightningsnow and Fernflame find them again, they're greeted with the sight of Ashpaw crying over Sunpaw's broken body.

Ashpaw, Faithheart and Moonwhisper are suffering from severe grief. They have only one energy a moon.

Whisperingspirit, Snailpaw (grieving Sunpaw) and Speckledstar (grieving Nectarnose) are now grieving. Whisperingspirit and Snailpaw have only one energy a moon till they recover, while Speckledstar has only two.

Ashpaw is now in shock. It will take one herb to attempt to heal and he has a 50% higher chance of failing hunts or having social interactions go negative.
