I have been with Bron through all of his championship wins and losses, but tonight was probably his biggest win ever.
As he walked back through the curtain, everyone applauded him. He made his way through everyone, shaking hands and giving hugs until he got to me.
I see his eyes soften, and I jump into his strong arms. "I am so proud of you,"
"Thank you babe, I know supporting me hasn't always been easy," he says
"Not always easy, but always worth it,"
He gently kisses me before putting me back down on the ground.
"I have to do some interviews, but as soon as I'm done, we're going to go out and celebrate,"
"I have a celebration planned for you," I say
"Oh, I'm sure you do,"
I walk with him to his interviews, staying out of the frame. As he did his last interview for the night, he went a little off-script.
"The last few years haven't been easy, so I want to thank my girlfriend, y/n; I always stand her during the times of celebration and times of heartbreak and loss,"
As he walks back over to me, I hug him with tears. It wasn't often that he showed this side. I almost always saw him in character while he was at work. Being the badass that he was, it was easy for him to portray it on TV.
"You good love?" He asks
I nod, "sorry, just a little surprised that you brought me up,"
"Sorry," he says
"Don't be, it was really sweet,"
"Let me change, and we can head out,"
"Sounds good, I'll be waiting outside the locker room,"
After a few minutes, he came out of the locker with his bags, and we walked to the car together. As we make our way to the car, the buzz of the arena slowly fades into the background, replaced by the quiet hum of the city night. The cool air is a refreshing contrast to the heat of the celebration inside.
He glances over at me, a playful smirk on his face. "So, what's this surprise you have planned? You know I'm a sucker for a good celebration."
I laugh, feeling the excitement in the air. "You'll see soon enough. But I promise it's going to be something special."
We reach the car, and as he opens the door for me, I notice the twinkle of curiosity in his eyes. After settling inside, the drive to our destination is filled with comfortable silence, punctuated by occasional laughter and shared glances.
The car pulls up to a cozy, dimly lit restaurant I'd arranged for a private celebration. The place is elegant but understated, with candles flickering on each table and soft music playing in the background. As he steps out and enters the setting, his eyes widen with genuine surprise and delight.
"This is amazing," he says, turning to me with a look of gratitude. "You outdid yourself."
I take his hand and lead him inside, where a small group of our closest friends and family are gathered, all waiting to celebrate this monumental moment. The look of joy and pride on his face as he sees everyone there is priceless.
As the evening progresses, the room fills with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and the clinking of glasses. Bron's earlier tough exterior softens even more in the warm, intimate setting. It's clear that tonight isn't just about his championship win; it's also about the people who have supported him along the way and the love that surrounds him.
When the night winds down, he pulls me close and whispers, "Thank you for everything tonight. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate."
I smile up at him, feeling the warmth of his embrace. "You deserve it all, Bron. Every bit of happiness."
As we leave the restaurant, hand in hand, I feel a deep sense of contentment. The night has been perfect, a beautiful end to an incredible day and a reminder of our shared strength and love.
