Rising from my well-deserved slumber, my routine is the same as always, with one exception. Synlie wakes me up, but we bathe together since we have gotten closer, then head out to eat. If I am to be forced to suffer through working, I have to be on time to keep the job. Our times to leave for work are two hours apart, but to save funds I want to have her pay for my breakfast still. As always, we eat at the usual tavern, and Reslin is there to take our orders. It seems she works even harder and longer than me, she's always here when we go to eat, be it breakfast or dinner... Only when doing labor myself can I appreciate it.
"You look a little worn out. Something happen?"
"Got a job. Twelve hour shift. I'll get used to it."
"It brings me joy to see Miss Ansietria work so diligently."
"Make sure to buy more to eat to celebrate. We wouldn't mind a little more coins!"
"But I would mind spending more. Give us the usual."
"Stingy, no fun! I'll be back." Reslin leaves with a chuckle.
"By the way Synlie, how much did your house cost?"
"210 gold coins."
"Damn. Expensive."
"Is it? I was recommended to move there by Aurorus, so I obliged."
"And you didn't think about it?"
"Should I have done so?" How can someone so important be so stupid?
"Never mind that. What's the average price of a house?"
"That would depend of course. Large ones may range from 150 to 400 gold, medium ones may be 100 to 150, and small ones start the cheapest at 40."
So with my paycheck of 12 silver a day, that would take me... A month to get enough for the cheapest house... And I have two weeks to move out unless I want to be violently slaughtered. This is quite the issue.
"How about inn rooms?"
"Of course those depend as well, but the closest one would be ten silver a night. It is good for its price."
An inn counts as moving out. It's like a hotel. Technically I'm living by myself and won't be bothering anyone. I'll use that as my argument.
Reslin comes with our food and we eat. The taste hasn't dulled despite eating it everyday. The chef has my thanks, such delicious food at such a good price. Synlie pays it so my price is free. After we finish eating, we go on our separate days. I have an hour before my shift starts, but I have nothing else to do so I decide to go early.
"Welcome! Oh, it's just you, Ansietria! You're here early!" Vela greets me excitedly, in the middle of restocking the shelves with new food.
"Do I get paid extra for starting early?"
"I dunno... Boss, does she?"
"Hm."
"Sorry, he said no!"
"Then I'll just sit in the back until I'm ready."
"Oh, if you have nothing to do we can get you measured for your uniform! This lady named Sally does it for us, I can give you directions to get there!" Small town we live in.
"I know her. I've been there multiple times. I'll be on my way then."
"Take care!"
"Ha."
I leave and start walking through the streets. I've gotten a little bit familiar with them, so I don't have to keep second guessing myself when trying to get from place to place. The familiar sight of the seamstress shop comes into view before long. As I enter, Sally is diligently working.
