I woke up to the sweet serenade of birds chirping outside my window, the warm sun peeking through the curtains, beckoning me to start my day. I stretched my arms and yawned, feeling the softness of my bed beneath me. I got out of bed and walked to the corridor, where I could see the hustle and bustle of the city below. Cars honked, people rushed to work, kids headed to school, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of everyone trying to fix their lives. I loved days like this, but I had to admit, I loved the darkness even more.
I went back inside, made my bed, and said my morning prayer. Then, I gazed into the mirror and couldn't help but admire my reflection. My hair was messy, but I still looked good. I brushed my teeth to the tune of music playing in the background, took the longest, most refreshing shower, singing my heart out. I was taking my time, no classes today, and I felt godly.
After my shower, I lotioned myself in my walk-in closet, slipped into my beige cargo pants, beige crop top hoodie with "Sassy" printed on it, and my short white Nike socks with a touch of baby pink and white Nike sneakers. I tied my hair back, put on my Sassy printed cap, spritzed some Sassy cologne, and headed downstairs for breakfast.
I settled for Coco Pops cereal and watched some TV in the lounge. Cartoons were the only thing that seemed interesting at that moment. Just as I was getting comfortable, I heard a car pull into the driveway. I knew it was Jessy; she was the only one who knew the password to the gate. She let herself in, went straight to the kitchen, grabbed my snacks and ice cream, and came to sit beside me. "Hey girl," she said, kissing my forehead. "Hey bitch, you finishing my junk?" I replied, laughing.
