"He's a clown."
"He's the ruler of the Green Demon Clan."
"He just asked if he could try on your metal mask and then audaciously suggested that if you wore it upside down it'd probably look better."
"When he last saw me, I wasn't wearing a mask, so he's just curious. Demons don't hide their scars, we wear them proudly ... but the Nine Heavens has different social norms. I wouldn't want anyone to judge Dihou by the way I look."
"Uh, too late," said Shen Wu with a small chuckle to himself. "But hey it's good, no one's going to mess with her ... it's their ass that's going to be ripped apart."
Liu Jun gave a few stiff nods. "And then set on fire," he snarled lowly.
"Uh, yeah ... that too," added Shen Wu. "This demon lord Yan, he talks a lot. Like non-stop you know, he seems to have an opinion on everything. An opinion on this, on that, like everything, you know?"
"Yeah, I don't know anyone like him," responded the demon sarcastically. "But yeah ... he takes initiative with offering ... his ideas on things."
"Yo, you're always suspicious and mean to everyone, why are you so patient with him?"
Liu Jun shrugged his shoulders and gave no verbal answer.
Shen Wu could not understand why the demon, who was usually eager to kill anyone who got too close to her was being so calm and patient.
Her friends had just been introduced to this Yan Chiwu who she quickly took to calling Xiao Yan, as if they'd been friends for centuries.
But that was after she stated she would call him Uncle Yan but he shot down that idea quicker than she could smack her lips at a scrumptious meal.
Her friends were in the courtyard watching her spar with the demon lord. All her friends were on edge with this new character that had been brought into the fold.
"It'd be easier to accept him if he was ugly," stated Cheng Xi.
"Agreed," said Zhang Feng.
The rest of the group bobbed a few nods while they watched and heard the clanking of steel, aggressive grunts, the light ringing from the bells on her ankle, and the occasional adorable growl.
She had manifested her Tao Zhu sword while the demon lord attacked with his sword alit with flames.
"Get him!! Get him!!" yelled out Ling Yue as the demon lord blocked a vicious kick to his gut. "My bet's on Xiao Jiu," he said with a quick smile to his friends.
"I don't know," said Jiang Yu with a hint of worry in his tone. "There's a lot of aggression in his moves."
"He's a demon," muttered Cang Yi pointedly while standing there with his arms folded across his chest. "What would you expect?"
Shen Wu looked over at his friend and started chuckling. "You look like a disapproving father. Next, you're going to stand with your hands on your hips like a pissed-off grandma aren't you?"
"You mean looking like how your mom usually does," retorted Cang Yi without as much as a glance at his friend.
"Ohh burrrn!" yelled out Ling Yue. "Cang Yi, I didn't think you had it in you!" A round of laughter broke out amongst the Celestials.
Even Liu Jun managed a few jolly grunts. He knew her family would be proud seeing her hold her own against an elite demon warrior like Yan Chiwu.
Shen Wu sidled up to the demon.
