"Sit down," Imee instructed, her voice laced with a gentle insistence that masked the keen anticipation coursing through her. She was careful, though—careful not to unsettle or make Adeline, her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, uncomfortable. Adeline was about to marry her son, Borgy, and things had moved swiftly for the young couple. This was, after all, the first time Adeline would meet her, and Imee wasn't about to let this moment slip by unnoticed.

"Ma'am," Adeline greeted, her movements laced with grace as she positioned herself respectfully before her soon-to-be mother-in-law. With a delicate touch, she allowed their hands to brush against each other, making a fleeting but intentional connection. Imee, ever the picture of strength, held her composure, offering only a faint smile before nodding slowly, her presence as commanding as ever.

They sitted to a near couch, Adeline shifted uncomfortablely across her soon to be mother in law, nervous as she is.

ADELINE

Nervous as hell, I never had in my life that I'm this nervous like fuvk.

Staring at the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen, the prominent senator seated across from me, her sharp mahogany eyes narrow in my direction—focused entirely on me. How could I ever be the perfect wife to my husband when all I can think about is his mother? How did I let myself get this far? My knees feel weak, almost like jelly, as my heart races uncontrollably. The tension in the room thickens, wrapping around me like a noose, suffocating yet intoxicating. Her gaze, powerful and commanding, holds me captive, and I’m drowning in it. This isn’t just a fleeting attraction; it’s an obsession, and the weight of it is tearing me apart, but I can’t look away. The power she exudes is magnetic, and I’m trapped in her web, powerless to escape.

“Baby,” a voice suddenly cut through the tension, snapping me out of my fevered imaginings. The voice commanding presence seemed to waver, and I was jolted back to reality. I turned to see my husband, his gaze is comforting and charming, as he looked at me from across the room. The spell was delightful, but the remnants of my forbidden desire still lingered on her mother, gnawing at me from within.

It's my husband!

“Matty! Babe”, a smile crippled through my impeccable lips as my throat become dry from probably being with her mother. Phew!

I stood up from my seat, leaned in for a quick beso, and gave him a small hug, his hand tapping my back lightly. But as I pulled away, my breath caught in my throat. Her mother’s eyes were locked onto us—onto me. Her expression was unreadable, a mask that I couldn’t decipher. Was it disdain? Disapproval? Or maybe it was something darker, something that made me feel like a small, insignificant pawn in a game I didn’t fully understand. I couldn’t shake the feeling that whenever I was with my future husband, it made her sick to her stomach. The weight of her gaze bore into me, as if she could see through every pretense, every hidden thought, and it made me question everything.

Will I be a worth of her bless?

“I’m going to the capitol, babe. You’ll be fine with Mommy?” he asked, reminding me of the position I seemed to forget in the haze of my thoughts. Right, he’s a governor. I nodded quickly, maybe too quickly, which made his expression shift to something curious before he flashed me a smile. He turned to his mother to say goodbye, and I watched as she formed a small, polite smile on her lips—a smile that never quite reached her eyes. It wasn’t genuine; I could feel it. Or maybe it was just my mind playing tricks, twisting her expression into something far more sinister. But the distance between her smile and her eyes didn’t lie. Something was off, and the unease settled back into my chest like a heavy stone.

Damn it Senator.

As he continued on his way, her mother’s gaze slowly returned to me, piercing and unreadable. Was she upset? Uncomfortable? I couldn’t tell, and it only made my heart race faster. “Oh my God, Adeline, why are you so frantic?”, I scolded myself internally, trying to regain some composure. But the weight of her stare made it impossible to think clearly. Every rational thought seemed to slip away, leaving only the raw, unsettling anxiety that something was terribly wrong.

“So you did it?”, time came fast for me since I reluctantly make swift back to the couch, her eyea digging to my soul, as if she was integrating me in senate. Was it sex that she's saying? Gosh this topic is so uncomfortable to handle.

“Ahhmm, not yet Ma'am, I'm still pure”, Slowly getting my courage back to reply on her words, was it the right words Adeline?

Senator Imee raised her brows ever so slightly, her mahogany eyes darkening with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. A smirk curled on her bright red lips, an expression that held a world of unspoken words. Ahm? I murmured, my voice barely audible, my confusion and unease bubbling to the surface. My eyes locked onto hers, searching desperately for some hint of what lay behind that enigmatic gaze. But all I found was a deep, unyielding darkness that seemed to swallow any trace of warmth. What was she thinking? What was she hiding? The more I stared, the more lost I felt in the chasm of her stare, as if the answer was right there, just out of reach..

“Great”
