•just after the changes to time•

red and chloe once again felt the sickness from time travelling back and fourth in time.

"i never want to do that again." chloe complained holding onto her stomach leaning on a giggling red.

"well...we're back." red comments smiling sadly. she knew she should be happy everything was back. after they originally changed time things went terribly. uma had it out for the queen of hearts due to her aunt telling her stories. charming and ella never went to the dance together making chloe slowly fade from existence. red had the trauma of a broken doll with the life of a wealthy man. so they made the hard decision. to let everything return to normal luckily they got sent back to the beginning of the day so right now they where standing behind their bickering mothers.

"i've always wondered what it was like over there." chloe winked revisiting her first words to red.

"hm you should come sometime i'll introduce you to the jaberworky." red mocked walking past chloe while slipping a deck of cards in the girls hand. chloe looked confused but quickly realised she was holding onto the cards that caused this whole mess in the first place.

as the introduction went on the queen of hearts began looking for her cards which she obviously couldn't find. her search got more worried and angry as time went on when she inevitably snapped at red.

"where are my cards!" whoever said whispering was gentle had never met reds mother. the pure fire in her words could make a tower of cards fall.

"not sure." red replied not breaking eye contact with uma who was giving a presentation.

chloe on the other hand couldn't take her eyes off of red who was bouncing her leg in fear.

the blue haired girl held tightly onto the deck of cards in her jacket not removing her hand or moving a finger for that matter in fear the queen would have a trick up her sleeve and take the cards away.

later on everyone was getting tours around the school and being told history of how auradon came to be. chloe and her mother were walking slowly behind red and the queen.

chloe's mind kept wandering to how her mother wasn't always perfect infact she hated the kind of person she was now once upon a time. how could someone so set on the fine line of wrong and right once be open to good and evil being the same person with different masks when she was younger.

"mom?" chloe pulled herself out of her thoughts looking at her mother she didn't quite recognise now.

"yes sweetie?" cinderella looked down at her daughter holding onto her hand as she did.

"you've told me how you and dad fell in love but you haven't spoken about before that...about your childhood." chloe crossed her fingers with her free hand hoping the woman would speak about it and tell her the truth for that matter..anything any piece of truth from her childhood.

"what did i say earlier chlo? we're here for the future not the past." if someone wasn't given context to that sentence they'd think cinderella was being rude and snappy but she spoke softly and calming...nurturing not that it surprised chloe. her mother was never one to raise her voice.

chloe couldn't argue she just nodded and kept on walking trying to hear even a bit of what red and the queen were saying.

"i don't have your cards mother." red snapped looking at the queen immediately regretting it. she regrets things she does and says a lot with her mother it's almost as if one slip up and it's off with everyone head including her own daughters believe it or not.

"red why are you rude to me. why are you betraying my trust and work. you disappoint me to no end. it's like you want to be beheaded." the queen walked away from her daughter only a few steps ahead but the light she uncovered for red from the windows she was standing infront of was enough for the girl to feel safer and warmer.
