Chapter 2

We both just stood there, staring at eachother as we took in each other's features. It was honestly like looking in a mirror, we looked identical except her fiery hair and my muted blonde.

The silence and tension was thick in the air and I could have cut it with a knife if I had one on me..

Ashlyn's mom Emma came to the door and saved us from our awkward stare. "Oh Emilia! Your here! It's so good to see you again!" She greeted me with a big hug.

"It's good to see you to aunty Emma." I say returning the hug as I look over and see my uncle Mike walk into view.

"Hey there squirt! Good to see you!" He says walking over to us and wrapping his arms around me. "It'll be good to have you stay with us, we will finally get to know you better, it's been so long." He stated.

"It has..." I say looking over at Ashlyn who is already staring at me. "Something wrong ash?" I ask her as she continues to look at me.

"O-oh it's nothing!" she says looking away from me as she's realized she's been caught.

Her parents stand there looking between us, "well it's getting late, come have dinner kid." Emma says.

"Thank you. It will be nice to have some food I'm starved!" I say smiling as I'm lead into the house.

Mike follows close behind but Ashlyn doesn't follow. She just continues standing there staring at me as I walk away. She shakes her head and follows us into the dining room.

I sit down and aunt Emma brings me a plate. "Oh my gosh is this your famous avocado tacos? That you used to make when we were younger?" I ask excitement rising in my tone.

She nods and brings the rest of the family a plate to. We all sit down and start eating. "So kid how do you feel about starting a new school." Mike asks me.

"Fine.. I guess I am nervous but I already know someone which helps." I say smiling sheepishly as I turn my gaze to Ashlyn.

She nods and continues to stare down after her food. Her parents exchange a glance before they continue eating.

We finish dinner up shortly after that and they head up to show me where I will be staying. "You will be staying with Ashlyn for now. Your new room will be finished in a few days." Mike says.

"Thank you." I say putting my things down and looking over at Ashlyn. Her parents leave and shut the door behind them. We stand there in silence for a few minutes before Ashlyn grabs my arm.

"Do you hear them to..." she asks me, I can see fear etched across her face. "Hear what?" I ask her confused.

"The phantom noises..." she says. My eyes go wide. "You can still hear those!" I say astonished as she looks at me with fear.

"No I haven't heard any since I left Savannah.." I answer her. "Why can you hear them now?" I ask her.

"Yes, they're not to loud but I can hear them whenever I am around you." She says. "Whenever your around me? Thats odd.." I answer.

Just then the phantom noises started for me to. "I can hear them now.." I answer. "Alright this is getting freaky.." she says to me as she scans her room.

"Let's just go to sleep." She says as she sits on her bed and I go sit on the mattress just below.

My eyes flick up to the window as I see the sky darken slightly, it was almost like the sky was turning a blood red color.

I didn't think anything of it and rolled over to go to sleep. Little did we know that this was only the beginning...
