A few weeks had passed since Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers had offered their support to Vitani and Claire. Life had settled into a new rhythm, with Claire spending time with Johnny and the band, who had become like a second family to her. Vitani had managed to find some temporary work, thanks to the band’s network, and she was finally beginning to see a glimmer of stability.

One evening, as Johnny and the band were winding down after a rehearsal, Johnny’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw Vitani’s name, but the urgency in her voice was apparent even before he answered.

“Johnny, it’s Vitani. Something terrible has happened—Claire’s in the hospital,” she said, her voice trembling with fear and distress.

Johnny’s heart sank. “What? What happened?”

“I don’t know all the details yet,” Vitani explained, “but she was in an accident. They said she might need surgery. I’m on my way there now, but I need help.”

Without hesitation, Johnny’s bandmates—Walter, along with the rest of the Heartbreakers—gathered around him as he relayed the news. The concern on their faces mirrored his own.

“Alright, let’s move,” Johnny instructed. “We need to get to the hospital. Walter, can you drive us?”

Walter nodded, already heading for the exit. “Let’s go. We’ll be there as fast as we can.”

The band quickly gathered their things and piled into Walter’s van. The drive to the hospital was tense, the usual camaraderie replaced by a heavy silence. Johnny’s mind raced with worry for Claire, who had become like a niece to him, and for Vitani, who had been struggling so much already.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Johnny and the band were met by Vitani in the waiting room, her face etched with worry. She looked up with tear-filled eyes as they approached.

Vitani,” Johnny said, his voice soft but filled with concern, “How is she? What happened?”

Vitani took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “Claire was playing in the park when she tripped and fell. She hit her head badly. They said she might need surgery to relieve some pressure and check for internal injuries. I’ve been waiting for updates.”

Johnny put a comforting hand on her shoulder. “We’re here for you. Whatever you need, we’ll do it.”

Walter and the rest of the band offered their support, checking in with hospital staff and trying to gather any available information. They made sure Vitani had everything she needed—coffee, food, and most importantly, their presence.

Hours passed in anxious waiting. Johnny and the band kept Vitani company, sharing stories and trying to offer comfort in the midst of the uncertainty. They understood how important it was for Vitani to have support, especially when she was so worried about Claire.

Finally, a doctor emerged, his expression serious but calm. “Claire is out of surgery and is in recovery. The procedure went well, and we were able to address the injuries. She’ll need to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation, but she should be okay.”

A wave of relief washed over Vitani. Tears of gratitude and exhaustion mixed as she thanked the doctor. Johnny and the band, too, felt a sense of relief, though their concern for Claire was far from over.

As they gathered around Vitani, Johnny spoke with reassurance. “She’s a strong little girl. She’s got you and all of us pulling for her. We’ll be here every step of the way.”

Vitani nodded, her heart full of gratitude for the band’s unwavering support. “Thank you. I don’t know how I could have gotten through this without you.”

Johnny smiled gently, knowing that in times of crisis, true friendship and community shine the brightest. “We’re family now. And family looks out for each other. Let’s get through this together.”

As the band stayed by Vitani’s side and offered their support, the bond between them grew even stronger. In the face of adversity, they were reminded of the power of friendship and the incredible strength that comes from standing together.
