(Fast forward a few years, Luna, Stiv and Vexy's daughter, is now 17 and getting started in the music business)
Luna had finally made her mark with her debut solo music, but she felt that her sound needed something more. She craved collaboration, a deeper, richer experience that only working with a band could offer. With that in mind, she started forming a new group—one that could embody the dark, atmospheric tones of her music while bringing an edge of raw energy to the table. She called the band Bloodless Phantoms.
Finding bandmates wasn’t difficult, given her reputation and connections in the music world. She gathered a group of musicians who shared her vision: a hard-hitting yet melodic sound with gothic, eerie undertones. With Luna on lead guitar and vocals, the lineup was complete—Jason on rhythm guitar, Jimi on bass, and Haden on drums, all friends of Rebel’s, who had been watching Luna’s journey with admiration. They practiced tirelessly, refining their sound, and began writing for their first self-titled album, Bloodless Phantoms.
The concept of the album came to Luna during one of her late-night writing sessions. She wanted the songs to take listeners on a journey—a haunted, otherworldly experience that would challenge their perception of reality. Each track told a different story but tied together thematically, forming a tapestry of shadowy tales, surreal experiences, and darker emotions.
The album would have ten tracks, and Luna had already started crafting the titles and ideas behind each song:
"Outside the Realm" – This song opens the album with an otherworldly feel, as if stepping into an alternate dimension. Luna envisioned it as the gateway into the world of Bloodless Phantoms, a place outside reality, where anything could happen.
"The Awakening" – A heavy, slow-building track that simulates the process of coming to life from an eerie stillness. It’s the story of someone waking up to their own power, with pounding drums and ominous riffs to capture that energy
"Devil at My Door" – Dark and fast-paced, this track is about temptation and the constant battle between good and evil. Luna’s lyrics portray a figure standing at the threshold of moral choice, haunted by their demons.
"Speak no Lies" – More upbeat in tempo but still haunting, this song tackles the theme of truth and deception. The guitar work is jagged and sharp, driving the narrative of someone unraveling the lies they've been told.
"Shadows in the Walls" – One of the eeriest tracks on the album, this song is about the unseen forces that lurk just out of sight. With chilling lyrics and eerie echo effects, Luna crafted this one to feel like you’re being watched from the corners of a darkened room.
"Fears of Reality" – Here, Luna explores the idea of facing harsh truths and how terrifying that can be. The song alternates between heavy, distorted riffs and quiet, almost whispering vocals, playing with the contrast between fear and courage.
"A Dead Man's Hymn" – An instrumental, this track provides a haunting interlude halfway through the album. Luna wanted it to feel like a requiem, with somber, atmospheric guitar melodies that evoke a sense of melancholy and loss.
"What Are You Hiding?" – A confrontational song that tackles secrets and betrayals, this track is fast and relentless. The bassline drives the intensity, while Luna’s lyrics take on a more aggressive tone, calling out hidden motives and deceit.
"Bloody Vultures" – This track is gritty and raw, telling the story of predators waiting to strike when someone is at their weakest. The imagery of vultures circling adds to the grim, predatory vibe, with the music matching that dark energy.
"Back to the Grave" – The closing track is a full-circle moment, as it brings the listener back to where the journey began, but with a twist. It’s about resurrection and moving on from the past. The song has a driving rhythm, with heavy riffs that build toward an explosive finale.
Luna poured her heart and soul into the writing process, and the band worked together seamlessly to bring her vision to life. Each member added their own flavor to the songs, and their collective energy was electric in the studio.
After weeks of recording and perfecting the tracks, the album was finally ready. Bloodless Phantoms had created something dark, haunting, and powerful—an album that truly reflected who Luna was as an artist.
Now, they just had to release it to the world.
