Black.

That was all Hazel saw.

Were her eyes even open? She couldn't tell. But the black surrounding her was suffocating. She could barely breathe.

Where did Clementine go?

Is she okay?

Oh, if something happens to that child, she's going to kill someone–

That's her child, damnit. She's grown attached to that little rascal.

Soon enough, however, Hazel's eyes shift and she can suddenly see again. She looks down at herself, only you see Clementine staring up at her with a worried face. "Mama! You just stood there completely silently and unmoving, you weren't even breathing! Are you okay?"

The ashy brunette blinks, before sighing and moving to crouch closer to Clementine's height, gently patting her head. "I'm fine kid."

The toad pouts for a second, before nodding.

The two continue back to the hut, and walk inside. The small blue toad is quick to run off and probably get a snack, as Hazel simply opts to collapse on the couch, cradling her head in her hands.

"Mother fucker..."

She hisses in a low tone, feeling a sharp pain spreading through her head. She shifts to lay on her side, opening her eyes– Only you see bright red ones staring back at her. She yelps, quickly sitting up, though as soon as she blinks, the eyes are gone.

Clementine comes running into the room, a half eaten fruit in her hand. "Mama?!" The ashy brunette looks towards the small child, before sighing and running a hand through her hair, a habit she's slowly forming. "Sorry, I thought I saw something..."

'Those eyes looked exactly like that creature's eyes in the fourth temple...did it follow me here somehow?'

Hazel thinks to herself, leaning forward with her arms on her knees, staring at the ground. Clementine sits on the couch beside her, which she doesn't comment on.

This continues for days.

The original plan was to train Clementine, then head off to find this infamous rebellion Asesino told her Sasha was running. But, Hazel just ended up feeling weirder and weirder day after day.

She became more irritable.

Constantly snapping at the smallest things.

Always seeming tired no matter how much she's slept.

Yeah.

Asesino and Clementine both noticed this, but whenever they tried to bring it up, Hazel got all grumpy and went "I'm fine."

Even though she clearly wasn't.

At around day 11 of this, Hazel just didn't wake up the next morning. Asesino and Clementine originally assumed she was sleeping in since she seemed fine, her pulse was there and she was breathing, so she was fine. Right?

So the two left to go do some training.

When they returned, Hazel was standing at the front door, her back turned to the entity and toad.

"Mortal? Are you alright?" Asesino questions, moving an arm in front of Clementine in a protective movement. Something didn't seem right– Hazel's weight was shifted to her right foot when it was normally shifted to her left, she was just standing there – something she doesn't normally do – and the air surrounding her just seemed...
