𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋, 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐙𝐈𝐍𝐆, 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆

I had always loved the ocean since I was little. Its vastness and beauty always seemed to draw me in. I've always wanted to go sailing, but my father always said no. I begged and begged, for years and years, until one day, my father told me we would be spending the summer sailing along the coast, and I was ecstatic.

We set sail on a warm June morning, the sky a beautiful blue. I stood at the bow, wind tugging my hair back, eyes scanning the horizon in peace. Then I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn around to meet my father and another boy, our eyes meet, and I feel a strange flutter in my stomach. This boy had curly dark blonde hair and sea green eyes.

"Amelia, this is Finnick." My father stated.

I smile and shake his outstretched hand. "Hello, Finnick."

"I invited him to tag along. I hope it won't be a problem." His eyes glinted with a mischievous look and a kind of warning towards me, as if I'd ever have a problem with a handsome boy, my age, sailing across the ocean for days on end.

A week passed, and I found myself growing closer to Finnick. One evening, just as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange, he sat beside me. We sat in silence for a little while, listening to the lapping of the waves.

"Do you ever think about what's out there?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"All the time," I admitted. "The ocean, the stars... it all feels so endless, so full of possibilities."

He turned to look at me, his eyes reflecting the sunlight. "I think that's why I like you, Amelia. You see the world the way I do."

Our journey continued, but as we sailed further north, the weather took a drastic change. The air grew colder, and the sky was darker. One night, a storm hit, fierce and unforgiving. Our boat rocked violently, waves crashing over the sides. I clung to a pole, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Amelia, we need to get below deck!" My father shouted, but I couldn't move.

"Amelia!" Finnick's voice cut through the chaos. He was trying to tell me something, pointing to something off to our starboard side. Through the harsh rain, I could just make out a rocky outcrop, dangerously close. My heart dropped.

"We need to turn! Now!" I screamed.

My father turned his head, looking in the direction of my pointed finger. He rushed to steer the boat away from the rocks. Once I think we're in the clear, I let go of the pole I was clinging so dearly to, but I only catch a glimpse of the wave crashing into the side of our boat before It knocks me off my feet and I fly into the side railing.

I'm immediately hit with a searing pain in my ribs. My hands frantically try to grasp onto the metal railing, but it's too slippery, I fall into the freezing water, the cold biting into my skin like a thousand needles.

"Amelia!" I hear Finnick's voice, panicked and desperate as I struggle to keep my head above water. The currents pulled at me, dragging me down, and I could feel my strength waning.

I'm too far from the boat, the freezing water draining my energy too quickly. My only thoughts are that I'm not going to make it. But through the darkness, I see Finnick diving in after me. Big mistake.

I try to protest, but the salty water fills my throat, drowning out any noise. Finnick reaches me, and his arms pull me close.

"I've got you. Just hold on," he tells me, his voice trembling.

I wanted to believe him, I wanted to hold on to that hope. But I could feel my consciousness slipping, the world fading to darkness. The coldness of the water and of death was very persuading.

It hurt to breathe, I think I broke my ribs. It hurt to keep my head up, I can't hear. Water must've filled my ears. My body is numb. Finnick begins swimming back to the boat, and I hear my father's shouts. But even I know, this is it. The undying can't always save the dying.

Thank you, father, for making my sailing dreams come true.
