Aemyra's pov
"Aemyra!" The worried shouts from my mother as she came running down the gantry as I dismounted.
I used the cloak to keep myself concealed as I stood there with ash all over my skin. I'm sure I look like I've gone to battle.
"I can expl-" I said before my mom cut me off by engulfing me into a hug.
"I thought I lost you forever." She cried as she rocked us back and forth. "Thank the Gods.
"You fool. How could you go off to battle?" The voice of my brother Jacaerys was heard from behind us.
My mother released me from her hold to examine my attire.
"Where are your shoes? What are wearing?" She raised a brow. "Are you naked?" her eyes grew in size.
"You went to battle nude?" Jace's jaw dropped as they both realized this cloak was keeping me from exposing myself.
"Not intentionally." I admitted as I stood there awkwardly.
"What happened to you? You look like you been set on fire." Jace laughed as he tried to wipe the ash off my forehead.
I looked at him with disbelief. No way he knew about that. He was making a joke, little does he know it actually happened.
"Jacaerys, what your sister has done is treason and you have the gall to make joke of a serious situation?" The Queen lectured him.
The smile on his face disappeared.
The dragon keepers had tended to Tessarion and her wounds.
Meanwhile, I stood there with no emotion.
"Where is Rhaenys and Meleys?" My mother turned to the entrance of the stables.
I remained silent as tears went down my face.
Realization hit both my mother and brother as to what this meant.
"She's gone." i choked out as both pulled me in for another hug.
When i looked over Jace's shoulder I seen both Corlys and Baela standing by the arched doorway. Realization hit them both as well.
Guilt ate at me that I had to be the one to survive it all but also deliver the news.
"I tried to save her. I thought I could but I-"
"Shhh it's okay." My mother calmed me down as we all stood there in silence.
"I'm sorry." I kept on repeating as I she held me tighter.
"What happened to your clothes?" She questioned.
"They disintegrated when Vhagar set me on fire."
Both my mother and brother pulled away to look at me.
"Wait what?" Jace raised a brow.
"It's a long story." I quivered as I held the cloak even tighter.
"We can discuss this after we get you cleaned up. Elinda and Jane could you assist the princess?" My mother asked the two handmaidens that stood behind Corlys and Baela.
