Aemyra's pov
I walked out of the castle to see everything getting packed and prepared to ship out of Dragonstone.
Then there was Rhaena who stared out into the water, overlooking her new fate.
I slowly approached her, knowing she was not pleased of this new duty.
"Rhaena." I spoke softly as she continued to look forward. She didnt respond.
"I know you'd much rather stay here in Dragonstone and fight in this war. And sailing off with my brothers and dragon eggs are not ideal for a girl your age at times like this." I huffed out a sigh. "But would it mean anything to you if I told you that those eggs will be of great help years to come from now."
"Years to come, but not now." She spoke.
"I fear after this war, we will lose a majority of our dragons. Lately all I see now are those dragon eggs. Those dragon eggs will resurrect dragons from extinction." She now turned to face me with a confused look.
"It doesn't make sense now why you must protect them, but you are doing our future kin a great service." I blinked away the tears at the years to come. The years where I know longer breathe. The years that haunt me but bring great relief.
"And my brothers." I turned to look at her. "You will be ensuring they have a future in case we do not." I put my arm around her. We grew up together. Through my upbringing when I did not have girls to play with, I played with Rhaena and Baela. They are my sisters. "I'm going to miss you, Rhaena," I said as we hugged.
"I'm going to miss you too." She said softly before we pulled away.
Then she headed towards my mother who just called for her.
"Rhaena." I said. She turned around to look at me once more. "You will get a dragon of your own one day." I reassured her. She paused for a moment.
"You've seen it?" Her voice changed and her eyes had a glint of hope.
I just nodded my head and gave her a smile before she continued on to talk with my mother.
"Hey." I heard Jace walk up from behind where I stood. "How is Rhaena?"
"Rhaena will manage," I let out a sigh.
One of the nursemaids walked over to us with Viserys and Aegon.
Jace took Viserys and I took Aegon in my arms.
This would be the last I see them for a while.
"I understand why mother is doing this, but it doesnt make it any easier." I said as i held Aegon closer to me. I smiled as he grabbed a handful of my hair and played with it. I dont know what it was, but the little ones loved playing with our curly hair. My mother said that I would do the same to Ser Harwin Strong when he held me as a babe.
"Yeah." I watched as Jace ran his fingers through Viserys' beautiful silver-golden hair.
We made way towards our mother as she spoke to Rhaena. Baela joined us as well.
"Tyraxes and Stormcloud are young and vulnerable. These eggs are even more fragile." The Queen spoke as tome of the dragonkeepers lifted the lid of the brazier to show the dragon eggs stored safely in heat.
