I couldn't lie and say I wasn't an absolute nervous wreck to be going back to work after my last day there, which resulted in me laying in a hospital bed. I'd spent so long deliberating how the entire night would go down but I couldn't be sure, my plan to stick to Niall like velcro was the only thing I was going to make sure happened knowing he'd look after me.
Part of me had to wonder if Harry too would stop something happening to me after everything that happened in the hospital with Christmas then on top of it. That was a night I couldn't quite get out of my mind, I didn't want to deem it the best Christmas I'd had since I was like nine but it very quickly skyrocketed up to that position only I'm too stubborn to admit that.
He likes to confuse the absolute shit out of me, one-second snapping and refusing to answer questions before he shows me these stunning Christmas lights in the middle of nowhere. It was as though he was attempting to thank me for getting a present for Scarlett without actually saying the words, I don't think he's a thank you kinda guy.
But I appreciated it nonetheless, he got me out of the apartment and put a smile on my face when my night most likely would've ended in floods of tears as I clung to my pillow and wished my life had turned out differently.
Instead, I was sitting on the bonnet of his expensive old car while the snow rained down on us as time slipped away to be stolen by the night, my head remaining on his shoulder with an arm belonging to him wrapped delicately around my waist so to keep me close and honestly at that moment there's nowhere else I'd rather of been.
We only listened to the tune that played along with the beautiful lights the one time, he'd explained to me it was based upon a sensor the stone he threw triggered. I was completely mesmerised by the sight, leaving me utterly speechless as I stared forward like the colours compelled me into a deep trance. He seemed to be the same, saying nothing until the fact I was shaking so violently made him realise how long we'd been sitting out in the snow.
There was hardly anything exchanged between us, soft conversation when my nosiness got the better of me and I wanted to ask a question before we went back to the comfortable silence I didn't think could exist with Harry. I was waiting for him to get snappy with me, to say something and send whatever progress you could call all of this right back to square one.
But he drove me home, dropping me off at the bottom of the stairwell like he's got a deep fear of my front door. There was a sense of tension radiating off of him as I began to back away slowly waiting for him to potentially say something. However, it was me who broke the quietness between us with a soft smile curled on my face.
"Thank you for tonight, Harry."
And before he had time to reply I was ascending the stairs and disappearing out of his view, I'd made sure I got my front door key back from him but it's evident he comes and goes as he pleases so I just need to remember to shut my windows especially when I'm home alone.
