You get burned, when you play with fire.
The flames are indeed attractive, but that is not enough reason to touch the flames cause the heat is always there to warn you.
In a place like Mid City High, eventually, we all get burned.
I learned when I came to life that drug addicts dwelt in school. It made me ask myself one question, Had I been dead all along?
Or was survival far-fetched from death?
Words spread like a virus, and the idea of unveiling the school secret would come to life.
How did we come to this conclusion? It was the shitty girls behind us who claimed to have overheard the discussion in the principal's office.
I filled my plate, doing the same for Beatrice. We gazed at each other listening on,
"I don't know, maybe it has something to do with that Cheerleader or something.""Do you think they're considering allowing it?"
"No, the idea was ridiculous."
Says you! Beatrice snorted and they gave her a look.
"YOU'RE ridiculous.""Shut up bitch," They yelled at her and I butted in.
"Wanna come shut her up? Cause I'm willing for an entertainment." They ran off.
I smirked. Didn't know I was so intimidating. "Yeah, you better run!" I giggled at Beatrice's immaturity.
I glanced at the table watching Bellamy at something Malcolm said. Carl seemed to get comfortable with them.
"Ready?" Beatrice whispered and shook my head.
"I'm not,"
"Me neither"
I gazed at her; she seemed unsure and wondered if she didn't see it.
"He's serious about you, you know?"She shrugs, "I am too, but…" Oh my God, she was in deep.
"Oh Beatrice, we'll have to play this to our favor."
She smiled, reading my expression. We approached the table and switched sitting positions. They glanced at us snickering. I fought the chuckle about to leave my lips when I saw Bellamy's expression.
I smiled sweetly instead. He looked away.
What was he expecting?
"Babe, I said I'm sorry. This is not fair." Chase whined from across the table.
Jake broke down in laughter, "God, can you be any less of a child." Chase frowned licking the peanut butter in his food.
I released this part of him that came out around Beatrice. They reminded what I thought my parents once had.
Who was I fooling?
"Miranda, Jake can you guys help me with my first paper?"
What makes him think he can talk to me?
"Because you love," he stated the obvious. They stared like I had two heads.
Uh oh, did I say that aloud?
"Yeah, you did." Jason laughed. Alec shook his head.
"What's wrong with me?" I muttered ashamed. I was supposed to be angry.
"It happens, Mira. Don't bother." Beatrice smirked, and I feigned confidence.
"Who said anything about worry?" A ghost of a smile appeared on Bellamy's feature for a second, but I saw it.
