13. As it Continues

And here is the final chapter!

TW: Brief mentions of panic attacks, insomnia and eating disorders/not eating enough.

It wasn't perfect, but the next numerous weeks were some of the best Error ever lived through.

Through the times the two were able to meet up, it always consisted of cuddles (Error's haphephobia with Dream had almost grown to be non-existent with the practice of overcoming it), watching Undernovela, trying to cook with Swap, visits to many AUs and much more. 

Their visits were sparse, however, as Error was busy with his oath of destroying the Mulitverse (one Dream rarely seemed bothered by anymore) and Dream was no doubt busy trying to stop Nightmare and spread positivity. 

The two had also decided to hide their relationship from the Multiverse. While Error wouldn't mind it getting told, he knew it could damage Dream's reputation and job as a guardian if many disapproved of two sides being together. So they kept it between themselves, it just meant Error had Dream more for himself anyway.

While Error wasn't sure if Ink had forgotten about him and Dream or not, the Protector wasn't the last to learn. When Error and Dream had visited Ccino's café, Ccino led them to a table, mischievous smile on his skull before quickly leaving and telling them to 'enjoy their date.' Error had nearly crashed as Dream flushed the same colour as his clothes with the unsubtle comment. Though, later on Error could spot Glitch and Goldie cuddling and grooming each other, so he wondered if their cat alternatives corresponded to their own relationship.

Neither was worried about Ccino telling anyone though, as he'd assured them as they left he wouldn't and happily invited them for free drinks and food next time.

So, visiting the café also became a common activity as well as friendly chats with Ccino. Error assumed he must've grown on the Fluffytale Sans, despite his continuous snarky and rude attitude to the other, as Ccino never failed to greet him warmly. But maybe Dream had put in a few good words about him.

Giving gifts had also continued to stay as something him and his boyfriend did, and usually each Friday evening when the two had cleared their schedules to meet, they exchanged boxes of chocolates, clothes, toys or handmade things. Error would deny having a collection of all the gifts Dream gave him, protected and hidden in his Antivoid

Not all their time together went as well, unfortunately. More than once Error had missed a meetup, only for Dream to come looking for him as Error didn't answer his phone and to find him having another panic attack or having crashed. Sometimes it was the Voices to blame, mostly his own mind. But Dream always took care of him, only fuelling Error's love further. 

The guardian always comforted and gently hugged Error when he (cracked and broke down into tears) was upset, managed to pry Error's mind from the flashes of what he assumed to be his past (knife slashes and a familiar skeleton face, the white Void that felt as if it drove him further and further into insanity and a glitched state). And even when Error didn't mention it, Dream stayed with him when the Destroyer felt lonely, even if he had somewhere to be.

Error tried his best to help the other just as much, but Dream was worse than him when it came to hiding away his own problems. He always felt guilty remembering when Swap mentioned to him once that Dream didn't eat often, believing the positivity he was provided was enough. Only after that did Error notice things such as the lack of popcorn Dream took as they watched movies, or how he only bought drinks at Ccino's.

Once Error mentioned it and Dream had instantly grown nervous, shuffling and holding up a tight, fake smile.

"Honestly, i-it's nothing bad! I do get most of my energy from positivity.. and.. and skeleton monsters don't need to eat much regardless.." Dream had hastily explained, trying to avert his personal problems away. Error wasn't convinced and only grew more concerned, however he didn't press as Dream seemed close to nervous tears. The sickening feeling of guilt Error had grown to despise came back, so he promised himself that this would be his start to help Dream.
