discovery
The sun hung high in the sky, casting a bright glare over the expansive field behind Kunugigaoka Junior High School. The black-haired woman walked up the hill gracefully, her thoughts clouded with anxious anticipation about her first day, not even breaking a sweat after climbing the stairs.
As she arrived at the old campus, she glanced at the windows, noting that the class was being taught by her target, though she couldn't see any of the students or the creature. The field was eerily empty. Kira walked into the building, searching for Tadaomi Karasuma, the physical education teacher and an agent from the Ministry of Defense.
She spotted a blonde woman sitting alone in the teachers' lounge. 'Must be another teacher. I should ask her for help,' Kira thought, approaching with a polite but reserved demeanor.
"Excuse me," Kira said, her voice steady as she neared the blonde. "I'm Kira Forger, the new teacher. I'm looking for Mr. Karasuma. Could you show me where he is?"
The blonde looked up with a warm, albeit somewhat mischievous smile. "Oh, I heard about you! I'm Irina Jelavić, the English teacher here. Karasuma is usually waiting next to the classroom for new staff introductions."
"Thank you, Ms. Jelavić," Kira replied, relieved to have clear directions.
"Oh, just call me Irina! I can't believe I finally have someone else to talk to other than that idiot Karasuma." Irina stood and gestured for Kira to follow. Kira was taken aback by the woman's remark. "I'll show you the way; it's just down this hallway."
As they walked together, Irina provided a brief overview of the school and its unique environment. Kira listened attentively, her focus on the details that might aid her in her new role.
When they reached the classroom, Kira saw Mr. Karasuma standing by the entrance, his posture straight and professional. He observed the students engaged in their assassination practice but turned his attention to Kira as she approached.
"This is Kira, the new teacher!" Irina announced. Karasuma's gaze met Kira's, and he responded with a curt nod. "I know. I was the one who informed you about her arrival." Irina scoffed and walked back to the teachers' lounge, muttering something inaudible to the other teachers.
Kira raised an eyebrow but maintained her composure. "Good to meet you, Mr. Karasuma."
"Let's get started," Karasuma said flatly. "I'll brief you on your responsibilities and how to fit into the current setup."
Kira listened attentively as Karasuma outlined her duties, her mind already engaged in processing the information and strategizing how to approach her mission. As he handed her the green-colored weapons necessary to eliminate her target, she absorbed every detail with focused precision, ready to complete the mission efficiently.
"Seems like class has ended, ready to introduce yourself to your students?" The woman nodded in response, he gestures at her to follow him, which she does.
Kira took a deep breath, her nerves bubbling beneath her calm exterior. She stepped into the classroom, her black dress swishing with each movement. The students, busy with their culinary tasks, looked up in surprise as she entered.
Without hesitation, Kira drew a concealed weapon that was strapped on her thigh beneath her dress, her movements fluid but her hands trembling slightly. With precision, she launched a strike toward Koro-sensei, who was observing the students with his usual detached amusement. The attack landed, grazing Koro-sensei's side and eliciting a sharp hiss from him.
Koro-sensei recoiled, his tentacles flaring defensively. Despite the wound, he remained lively and alert, his face a mix of surprise and irritation.
The classroom erupted into chaos. Students gasping and watching the attack. Kira stood poised, her weapon still in hand, her breathing controlled but her nerves evident in the slight tremor of her fingers. She scanned the room, maintaining her focus on Koro-sensei while trying to keep her composure.
"Sorry for the abrupt entrance," Kira said, her voice steady despite her underlying tension. "I'm Kira Forger, your new home economics teacher. I guess my introduction was a bit more... direct than intended."
As the students began to recover from their shock, Kira's gaze fell upon a familiar face among them. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized him—one of the students, with an expression of shock and confusion as their eyes locked.
Kira's mind raced. 'What is he doing here? How did he end up in this class?' The realization hit her like a cold wave, 'did he lie to me? I thought he was in class 3-A.' Her focus wavered momentarily, the stakes of her mission now tangled with a family connection she hadn't expected.
The student's gaze remained fixed on her, the recognition and disbelief in her face was obvious. The tension in the room was thick, with the other students watching in stunned silence as Kira stood frozen, caught between her professional duties and the shocking revelation.
Koro-sensei's mocking laughter cut through the silence, his eyes glinting with amusement at the unfolding drama. Kira's grip on her weapon tightened.
In the midst of the chaos, Kira's eyes locked onto the student once more. The unexpected twist of finding a familiar face in the classroom created a tangled web of conflict, and the air was thick with anticipation.
In the charged silence, the student's eyes met hers again, revealing an unmistakable expression of recognition. Kira's heart pounded as she braced herself for the next move, the room on edge, the chilling realization dawned on her—this was no ordinary student. The room held its breath, the name unspoken but the connection undeniable..- "Karma?"
