TW: EMETOPHOBIA

Autumn was sitting at her desk in the office when Marjorie walked in and slammed her bag down on her desk. She was clearly frustrated with something but Autumn could never tell what. She had one of those faces that just wouldn't give away what she was feeling. Aut stared at Marjorie. She'd had a crush on Marjorie ever since she'd joined the nursery. Roger had hired her as deputy manager once Summer had been fired, all to make sure that the nursery stayed 'The Knight Nursery' for as long as possible. Marjorie however was currently in a relationship with Autumn's brother, Reece, and she knew that they wouldn't be breaking up anytime soon, seeing as they were still in the so-called 'honeymoon period'.

"Arguing again, were you, Marjorie?" she asked, her gaze firmly focused on the annual leave diary, trying to hide her blush. Marjorie was hot when she was angry.

"Nope, even worse. He's broken up with me."

"Look on the bright side Marjorie."

"What." replied the woman through gritted teeth.

"At least you've had a hell of a glow up from this whole Reece debacle." Autumn said. She hadn't lied completely, but in her eyes, Marjorie couldn't get any prettier.

"Thank-you, my hair has never looked better."

There were many things that Autumn loved about Marjorie. The way her silky soft hair cascaded down her back. The way her body curved in the shape of an hourglass. The way her rounded glasses framed her gorgeous eyes. Her perfect, dusty blue eyes. But the thing Autumn loved most of all was the way her accent rolled off her tongue. She could listen to her speak for days and never get bored. It was such a unique accent. It was the type of unique where anyone who tried it sounded Australian.

Marjorie was different from Autumn. Marjorie's accent was firm and hard, whereas Autumn's voice was soft, and calm. Marjorie was happy and bubbly, Autumn was stern and occasionally violent. Autumn was so lost in her thoughts that she did not realise that Marjorie had gone to the loo and the phone was ringing. She picked up the phone to a strong Irish accent flowing through the speaker beside her ear.

"Um, hiya Autumn, I'm working in the toddler room today as cover and Ralphie's just vomited everywhere, would you mind giving his parents a call to get one of them to pick him up please?"

"Yes of course, Sorscha. I'll call them now." she replied, her face still red just from thinking about the woman she loved.

"Thanks, Charlie's just clearing it up now an- Charlie you've just flung a vomit filled paper towel at me!"

Autumn heard a distant 'sorry!' from Charlotte as she hung up and dialled the toddler's parents.

"Hello?" came a man's voice through the phone.

"Hello," Autumn started her head filled with thoughts of Marjorie. Her love for that woman was clearly very strong. "It's just the nursery calling regarding Ralphie. Unfortunately he has just thrown up everywhere so you will need to come and collect him."

"Wha- Can you not just keep him until the end of the day? It's only 3 hours until my wife comes to pick him up anyway."

"No we cannot, I am not even going to start this dance as it is policy for the parent to collect the child as soon as possible after they have been ill. Now if you could very kindly come and pick up your toddler, take him home, and not bring him in until 48 hours after the last bout of sickness. Goodbye."

"Did you not get the announcement from head office then?" Marjorie's voice sailed through the air and into Autumn's ears, making her heart beat 10 times faster.
