“Hey Autumn.”

“Good morning, Charlotte. How are you today?”

“I’m good, I- “

Autumn looked up to see a confused Charlotte looking at her desk. Autumn glanced to where she was staring and panicked as she swiftly reached out and snatched the small piece of paper that Charlotte was staring at.

“Autumn, what was that?” Charlotte asked, with a cheeky grin spread across her face.

“Nothing.”

“Was that a love note, Autumn?”

“No.”

“Are you sure? I saw it said ‘ - Aunt Muk.’”

“Okay fine yes it was.” Autumn admitted, pulling the note out of her pocket and placing it back on the varnished wooden desk. She held her head in her hands in frustration and rubbed her eyes.

“Autumn, why does that say ‘Hey gorgeous’ at the beginning? It also mentions Marjorie there, too.”

“Okay fine it’s to Marjorie, and yes from me.”

“Ooooh, who knew you were so soft and gooey in the centre.”

“Oh do be quiet. Also, please don’t tell anyone about this. The only people who know are you and Winter so-”

“OH MY GOD I’M GONNA GO HASSLE WINTER ABOUT THIS”

“Oh for fuck sake.” Autumn sighed and threw her head back. Thank God Marjorie wasn’t in today.

The folded piece of paper lay there on the desk untouched, Autumn’s handwriting scrawled all over it. {Image of letter at the end} She picked it up and strolled over to Marjorie’s locker, unlocked it, (everyone knew everyone’s code incase of an emergency) and lifted up her notebook, placing the small sheet underneath. She headed back to the office to find Agatha waiting in there for her by the door.

“Morning Agatha, how may I help.”

“Do you know where the annual leave diary is? I'm planning on booking a trip to Antarctica with my family.”

“Yes it should be over there on…” Autumn paused, she couldn’t even say her name without getting flustered.

“On…?”

“Sorry, over there on Marjorie’s desk. If it's not by her laptop it should be in the middle right drawer.”

“Thank you, I’ll keep it by the reception desk from now shall I?” Agatha replied, retrieving the thick ring bound book from the drawer and flicking through the pages trying to find the dates she wanted.

“Yes, keep it by the desk. I’ll inform… Marjorie… and let her know that from now on the diary will be at the front desk.”

“OK.”

Autumn sat down in her chair thinking about how Marjorie would react to the note in her locker. Would she be scared? Upset? Happy? She was debating going back to Marjorie’s locker and taking the note out when the phone rang. She picked it up and held it to her ear, disappointed to hear her brother's voice come through the speaker.

“Hey, Aut, is Marjorie at work today? She isn’t answering any of my messages or calls.”

“I’m not Albert Einstein, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out she’s very pissed off at you.”

“But why? I’ve not done anything wrong.”

“Reece, I can feel my brain cells dying as we speak. You broke up with her, Reece, why else would she hate you.”
