Adrien Lacroix and Ethan Miller entered the sleek, glass-walled office of Lacroix Enterprises. The high-rise building’s modern design mirrored the company’s reputation for cutting-edge innovation. Adrien's demeanor was all business as he strode through the marble lobby, his sharp blue eyes scanning the surroundings with a piercing intensity.

In the executive suite, Adrien's office was equally imposing, with a commanding view of the city skyline. His desk, made of polished ebony, was meticulously organized. Adrien himself was a striking figure: his tousled brown hair and pale lips gave him a somewhat ethereal appearance, contrasting sharply with his crisp, tailored suit. His physique was lean but athletic, a testament to his disciplined lifestyle.

Despite his polished exterior, Adrien’s reputation as a cold, calculating boss was well-earned. He was known for his unwavering focus on business and his relentless pursuit of improvement and innovation within the company. Conversations with him rarely strayed from work, and his expectations were as high as his standards were exacting.

Employees respected him for his brilliance but often found his detached demeanor challenging.Ethan, his ever-present assistant, followed closely, accustomed to the rhythm of Adrien’s demanding schedule. As they entered the office, Adrien immediately turned his attention to a stack of reports on his desk.

“Ethan, I need these projections revised by end of day. We can’t afford any setbacks,”

Adrien said, his voice as cool and precise as his gaze.

“Understood, sir.”

Ethan replied, already preparing to dive into the task.

As Adrien sat down  to review the reports, his mind wandered back to the café. He frowned slightly, the image of Evie’s defiant hazel eyes and the way she had challenged him replaying in his thoughts.

“Who is this girl?"he muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible.

Ethan, standing by the door, glanced up from his work.

“Pardon, sir?”

Adrien shook his head, dismissing the thought as he turned back to his desk.

“Nothing. Just focus on those revisions.”

Without another word,Ethan left the office.Adrien moved to the large window, looking out over the cityscape as he took a deep breath. He told himself firmly,

“She’s probably a nobody. Just another person with a bad attitude. There’s no reason to let this distraction affect my work.”

Yet, despite his attempt to brush it off, the question lingered in his mind, a small but persistent echo against his usual focus and control.

After the incident at the café, Evie went back home, still fuming over her encounter with that stranger at the café. She couldn’t shake the irritation she felt from their brief but intense exchange. As she settled into the living room, she glanced around at the cozy space, trying to ground herself.

The warmth and comfort of home contrasted sharply with the cold demeanor of the man she had encountered earlier. She picked up her laptop and started typing, but her mind kept drifting back to him. She wondered why someone so aloof had left such an impression on her.

“Ugh, why am I even thinking about him?” she muttered to herself.

She shook her head, trying to focus on her work, but his smirk and piercing blue eyes kept invading her thoughts. Her phone buzzed, breaking her focus. It was a text from Liam.

“Hey, don’t forget about karaoke tonight! I’ll pick you up at 7. You can’t back out now—I’ve promised everyone a good show!”

Evie smiled at the reminder. Liam had insisted on this outing to cheer her up after a rough day, and she appreciated the gesture. She quickly replied, confirming that she’d be ready.

As she got ready for karaoke, she chose a short floral dress that fluttered around her legs, paired with a denim jacket for a casual touch. Her white sport shoes added a practical yet stylish element, perfect for a night out. She pulled her hair back into a simple ponytail, and her makeup was light and fresh, enhancing her natural features without overshadowing her look.

When Liam arrived to pick her up, she felt confident and ready to enjoy the evening. The outfit was comfortable and fun, exactly what she needed to shake off the frustration from earlier in the day.

When Liam arrived to pick her up, Evie felt a renewed sense of excitement. She hoped that a night of singing and laughter would help her shake off the lingering annoyance from earlier.
