Adrien's POV:

I leaned back in my chair, reviewing the notes from Evie’s interview. The office was quiet except for the soft hum of the city outside and the occasional click of my computer keys. I rubbed my temples, trying to clear my mind of the irritation I felt from earlier.

The interview had been challenging. Evie had been more composed than I’d anticipated, but my reactions were far from fair. Realizing she was the same girl from the café had thrown me off balance. My suspicion about her connection with Liam Walker seemed to have clouded my judgment.

“Maybe I was too harsh,” I muttered to myself. “But why did Liam’s text bother me so much?”

The message from Ethan had seemed like just another reminder at first, but it had stung more than I’d expected. I glanced at the text again,

Ethan Miller: Don’t be too hard on her. I know she’s connected to Walker, and it might be a delicate situation.

The mention of Liam Walker triggered something within me. I remembered seeing Evie with Liam at the karaoke bar and how they interacted. There was something about their connection that I couldn’t ignore. I couldn’t quite pin down whether it was jealousy or just a nagging suspicion that something was off.

I sighed and turned my attention to Evie’s resume and application. Despite my initial judgment, I had to admit she showed potential. Her performance during the interview, even under the pressure I had applied, demonstrated resilience and capability. Her qualifications were impressive.

“What if I misjudged her?” I wondered. I rubbed my face in frustration, feeling a pang of guilt.

“Am I letting my feelings get in the way?”I recalled her responses to my questions—her nervousness was evident, but her answers were sharp and thoughtful.

The flush on her cheeks when I called her ‘Miss Coffee’ was unexpected and made me question my own motives. She seemed genuine and dedicated, qualities I valued in potential employees. My phone buzzed, interrupting my thoughts.

I glanced at the screen and saw a new email from HR regarding Evie’s application. The subject line read: “Follow-up on Interview”. I opened it, and my eyes widened at the contents. The email suggested that her qualifications were strong and recommended a second round of interviews.

“A second interview?” I thought, feeling a mix of emotions. The idea of meeting her again stirred up my earlier doubts and frustrations. I wasn’t sure if it was jealousy or something else, but it made me question whether I had been fair to her.

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the email. I needed to reassess my approach. I had to be fair, despite my personal uncertainties.

“I need to give her another chance,” I decided. “If she’s as good as her resume suggests, I can’t let my uncertainties cloud my judgment.”

I quickly sent an email to Ethan, requesting a review of the interview and a discussion about a possible second round. I knew that if I was to make the right decision, I had to be objective and consider all aspects.

If Evie had potential, she deserved a fair chance, regardless of my mixed feelings.

“Tomorrow,” I thought, “I’ll start fresh. I’ll review her application properly and give her the opportunity she deserves. I owe her that much.”

With a deep breath, I walked out of my office, determined to approach the situation with a clearer mind and a fair perspective.
