The morning light filtered through the curtains as Evie blinked herself awake. The remnants of her dream faded as she stretched, feeling the soft warmth of her bed. It was a new day, and she was ready to face it.
After a quick freshen-up, she headed downstairs where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air.At the dining table, the usual lively chatter awaited her. Her mother was in the middle of a funny story about something that happened when she was young, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Evie joined in, enjoying the light-hearted moment. It was these small joys that made her feel grounded, surrounded by the people she loved most.
After breakfast, Evie returned to her room, feeling content. She grabbed her laptop, ready to check her emails before starting her day. As she clicked through the usual spam and promotions, one email caught her eye. The subject line read: "Interview Invitation - Lacroix Enterprises."
Her heart skipped a beat.Lacroix Enterprises?
She hesitated for a moment before opening the email. The message was brief but clear: they wanted to interview her for an intern position. Evie's mind raced. She had applied to Lacroix Enterprises months ago, hoping for a chance, but all she received was a polite rejection.
They had told her she wasn't cut out for the role. And now, out of the blue, they wanted her?She stared at the email, her thoughts swirling. This was unexpected, and she wasn't sure how to process it. Without thinking, she grabbed her phone and dialed Liam's number.
"Hey, Liam," she said, her voice slightly breathless.
"Morning, Evie. What's up?" Liam's voice was cheerful, as always.
"You're not going to believe this." Evie quickly explained the email, her words tumbling out in a rush.
She could hardly believe it herself.Liam was silent for a moment, and Evie wondered if he was as surprised as she was.
"Well, what are you waiting for? This is huge, Evie! You have to take it."
"But...what if I'm not ready? I mean, they rejected me before. What if I'm still not cut out for it?"
Her doubts spilled out, the insecurities she had buried deep now surfacing.
"Evie, listen to me." Liam's tone was firm, yet supportive. "They wouldn't have reached out if they didn't see potential in you. You're more than capable, and this is your chance to prove it. You can't let this opportunity slip away."
Evie took a deep breath, letting his words sink in. "You really think so?"
"I know so. You've got this. And besides, you know I'll be here, cheering you on every step of the way."
A small smile tugged at her lips. Liam always knew how to calm her nerves. "Thanks, Liam. I guess I'll go for it, then."
"Good. Now go show them what you're made of."
As they hung up, Evie stared at the email again, her heart still pounding but now with a mix of excitement and nerves. She couldn't keep this news to herself any longer. Heading back downstairs, she found her parents and Kaylee still seated at the dining table, finishing their breakfast.
"Mom, Dad, Kaylee," Evie began, her voice trembling slightly as she approached.
"I have something to tell you."They all looked up, her father pausing as he adjusted his position in the wheelchair.
"What's on your mind, sweetheart?" he asked, his eyes filled with warmth and curiosity.Evie took a deep breath, the words still feeling surreal as she spoke them.
"I got an email this morning...from Lacroix Enterprises. They want to interview me for an intern position."
For a moment, there was silence as the news sank in. Then, Kaylee's eyes widened with excitement.
"Evie, that's amazing! I knew they'd see how talented you are eventually!"Her mother leaned forward, her face lighting up with pride.
"That's wonderful, Evie. You've worked so hard for this."
Her father, always her quiet but steady supporter, smiled. "I'm so proud of you. You deserve this opportunity, and I know you'll do great."
Evie's heart swelled with emotion, hearing the encouragement from her family.
"Thank you," she whispered, feeling a tear prick the corner of her eye.
"I was so nervous, but hearing all of you...I think I can really do this."
Kaylee reached out and squeezed her hand. "You can, and you will. This is just the beginning."
Evie nodded, feeling a wave of determination wash over her. With her family's support and Liam's encouragement, she knew she could face whatever came next.
