“Thanks, Dad,” she replied, trying to stay calm.

As she practiced her answers to potential questions, her phone buzzed with a message from Liam.

Evie’s nerves eased slightly. She texted back,

With a final glance at her resume and outfit in the mirror, Evie headed to Lacroix Enterprises. The building’s sleek, modern design made her heart race with anticipation. The receptionist greeted her and directed her to the waiting area.
Minutes before the interview, Adrien received a text from Ethan, his assistant.

Adrien frowned at the message but put his phone away as he walked into the waiting area, his eyes met Evie’s, and a flicker of recognition passed over his face.

When the interview finally concluded, Adrien’s tone was frosty. “Thank you for coming. We’ll be in touch,” he said, his voice lacking warmth.

Back at home, she called Liam to update him on the interview.“Hey, how did it go?” Liam asked, his voice full of curiosity.

Liam’s voice was concerned. “I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like he was in a bad mood. I’m sure you did your best.”
Evie smiled at Liam’s support and shared the news with her family.
