It was a week later, and the evening air was filled with a soft, calming warmth as the sun dipped below the horizon. Inside Sahil’s home, the atmosphere was abuzz with the excitement of the upcoming engagement. Sana was seated comfortably in the living room, her focus entirely on the task at hand—preparing for her best friend Sahil’s engagement.

The room was a delightful mess of wrapping paper, ribbons, and an array of carefully chosen gifts. Sana had always been the one to pay attention to the smallest details, and today was no different. Every gift was a token of appreciation and love, meant for Sahil’s soon-to-be in-laws, a gesture of goodwill from one family to another.

Across from her, Sahil’s mother, Chetna Ji, sat with a warm smile on her face. She was a woman of grace and wisdom, her presence always soothing and reassuring. She was guiding Sana with gentle instructions, helping her navigate the traditions and customs that were so important to this occasion.

“This one is for Sahil’s father-in-law,”

Chetna Ji said, handing Sana a beautifully wrapped book.

“He’s an avid reader, so I thought this would be perfect.”

Sana nodded, taking the gift and adding the finishing touches to the wrapping.

“It’s a thoughtful choice, Aunty. I’m sure he’ll love it.”

Chetna Ji watched Sana with a fond expression.

“You know, Sana, you’ve always been like a daughter to me. It’s wonderful to see you putting so much effort into Sahil’s happiness.”

Sana looked up, a shy smile tugging at her lips.

“Sahil is like family to me, Aunty. I want everything to be perfect for him and his fiancée. They both deserve all the happiness in the world.”

Chetna Ji nodded, her eyes filled with understanding.

“True friendships like yours are rare, Sana. Sahil is lucky to have you by his side.”

As they continued to work together, their conversation flowed easily, touching on everything from the engagement plans to memories of Sahil’s childhood. Chetna Ji shared stories of her own experiences, offering advice on the best ways to handle the formalities of the upcoming event, while Sana listened attentively, grateful for the guidance.

The living room was filled with the soft sounds of their activity—the rustling of wrapping paper, the snip of scissors, and the occasional clink of glass as they handled more delicate items. It was a peaceful scene, a moment of quiet bonding that went beyond words.

With each gift they wrapped, Sana felt a growing sense of accomplishment. She was proud to be a part of this special occasion, to contribute to the joy that was soon to unfold. As she tied the last ribbon on the final gift, she leaned back and surveyed their handiwork, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction.

“Thank you for helping me, Aunty,”

Sana said, turning to Chetna Ji with a smile.

“I couldn’t have done this without you.”

Chetna Ji reached over and patted Sana’s hand affectionately.

“You’re practically family, Sana. It was my pleasure to help. Besides, I’m glad I could be part of this.”

Sana’s heart swelled with warmth. She had always felt at home with Sahil’s family, but moments like these made her realize just how much she was truly loved and appreciated.

As they sat back, taking a moment to rest, Chetna Ji looked at Sana with a thoughtful expression.

“You know, Sana, you’ll make a wonderful daughter-in-law one day. Any family would be blessed to have you.”
