“What happened, Garima? Did Sana say anything?”
Chetna Ji asked with concern.
“Bhabhi! Bhai! The girl is deeply wounded! Even though it’s been six years, she still hasn’t recovered from it!”
Garima said, causing Chetna, Gautam, and the rest of the family to tense up.
“Chetna Bhabhi, don’t pressure Sana!”
Pallavi Ji, Chetna Ji’s sister-in-law, spoke up. Although Pallavi Ji was known for her straightforwardness, she had always shown great affection for Sana. She had supported her through her struggles and motivated her to pursue her passions.
“Do you see Sana as a burden? These days, not everyone is ready for marriage right away. She needs time and understanding.”
"Pallavi! Behave! Bhabhi didn't mean it that way!"
Girish Ji said firmly.
"Oh, stop it, Girish!"
Pallavi Ji shot back.
"Besides being your wife, a daughter-in-law of this family, and Sana and Sahil's aunt, I’m also Sana’s doctor! I won’t let anything interfere with the well-being of my patient!"
She said curtly before turning on her heel and leaving the room.
“It’s okay, Girish Bhaiya. I understand Pallavi is deeply concerned about Sana. I will talk to her myself tonight,”
Chetna Ji said with a reassuring smile.
As night descended, Chetna Ji felt a sense of responsibility and compassion toward Sana. As a mother figure to Sana, she knew that now was the time to address the lingering fears and doubts that were holding Sana back from considering marriage.
She quietly entered Sana’s room, finding her sitting on the edge of the bed, her gaze distant and contemplative. The soft light from the bedside lamp cast a gentle glow, creating an atmosphere of calm that was almost palpable.
Chetna Ji approached and sat beside Sana, her presence exuding warmth and understanding.
“Sana, beta, can we talk for a moment?”, she asked gently.
Sana looked up, her expression a mixture of surprise and apprehension.
“Of course, Aunty,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Chetna Ji settled down beside her, her heart full of empathy. She took a deep breath, choosing her words carefully as she began to speak.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about our conversation earlier today, and I wanted to have a heart-to-heart with you. I know the past has been incredibly difficult for you, and I can see how much it still affects you.”
Sana’s eyes were filled with a mixture of gratitude and sadness. She looked away, struggling to hold back tears.
“It’s hard to forget, Aunty. The pain from what happened… it still feels so fresh sometimes.”
Chetna Ji reached out and gently took Sana’s hand in hers.
“I can only imagine how deep that pain must be. But I want you to know that it’s okay to feel what you’re feeling. It’s okay to be afraid, but it’s also important to find a way to move forward.”
Sana’s voice trembled as she spoke.
“I’m afraid of going through that pain again. What if I can’t handle it? What if I end up hurt once more?”
