Saana felt the sting of each word, her composure slipping as tears began to well in her eyes. She couldn’t believe that someone could be so cruel, especially on a day that was supposed to be filled with happiness. She wanted to disappear, to escape the humiliation that was pressing down on her like a weight.

But just as she was about to turn away, her vision blurred by tears, she felt a warm, firm hand on her arm. Sidharth had appeared, his expression dark and his jaw set in anger.

“Pishimoni!”

Sidharth’s voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a blade. He stepped forward, placing himself between Pritha and Saana, his protective stance unmistakable.

“That’s enough.”

Pritha blinked in surprise, taken aback by Sidharth’s sudden intrusion.

“Sidharth, I was just—”

“Insulting my fiancée?”

Sidharth’s voice was cold, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Pritha.

“Do you really think it’s appropriate to speak to her like that? On the day of our engagement, no less?”

Pritha stammered, her confident demeanor faltering.

“I was only saying what everyone is thinking! You could have done much better—”

“Better?”

Sidharth cut her off, his voice rising with emotion.

“Saana is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I won’t stand by while anyone—family or not—disrespects her. She’s been through more than you could ever imagine, and she’s come out stronger. That’s something you should admire, not belittle.”

Pritha opened her mouth to respond, but Sidharth wasn’t finished.

“And as for money and status—if that’s what you care about, then maybe you should reconsider what it means to be part of this family. We value love, respect, and integrity—not superficial things like wealth or class.”

The guests nearby had fallen silent, their attention drawn to the confrontation. Janhavi stepped forward, her voice gentle but firm.

“Pishimoni, Sidharth is right. Saana is a part of our family now, and we will protect her just as we would any of our own.”

Pritha’s face turned red with embarrassment, realizing she had overstepped. She looked around, seeing the disapproving stares from the other guests, and quickly mumbled an apology.

“I… I didn’t mean to cause any trouble. I was just… concerned.”

Sidharth didn’t waver.

“If you have concerns, you address them with me, not by attacking Saana. This is her day, and I won’t allow anyone to ruin it.”

With that, he turned to Saana, his expression softening as he saw the tears in her eyes.

“Saana, don’t let her words get to you. You’re perfect just the way you are, and I’m so proud to have you by my side.”

Saana’s heart swelled with emotion, the sting of Pritha’s words fading in the face of Sidharth’s unwavering support. She nodded, wiping away the tears that had escaped.

Sidharth squeezed her hand gently, offering her a reassuring smile.

“Let’s go. We have a celebration to get back to, and I don’t want anything to take away from the happiness of this day.”
