==============================Arunoday's house
At Arunoday's home, he was sitting on his desk, the dim light casting shadows over his paperwork. Vivek, lounging comfortably on the sofa, was clearly struggling to contain his laughter.
"Bro, seriously," Vivek began, breaking the silence, "what was that earlier today?"
Arunoday looked up from his work, clearly puzzled. "What are you talking about?"
Vivek's grin widened as he continued to laugh. "Oh, come on! The whole heroic stunt in the rain. You don't remember?"
Arunoday raised an eyebrow. "Stunt? What stunt?"
Vivek shook his head in disbelief, his laughter bubbling up again. "You must be kidding! You walked out of the bookstore like you were in a movie, handed her the umbrella and her bag, and then made this dramatic exit. It was like something out of a film!"
Arunoday said normally. "So? I just helped someone. It's not a big deal."
Vivek was practically rolling on the sofa now. "Not a big deal? Bro, I've known you since kindergarten. You wouldn't even lend me a pen without a lecture! And today, you're out here playing the gallant knight?"
Arunoday sighed. "And?"
Vivek leaned forward, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "And the Arun I know, who's all about work and zero romance, suddenly becomes this dashing hero? Isn't that like a scene from a fairy tale?"
Arunoday groaned, clearly annoyed. "Just shut up."
Vivek's laughter only grew louder. "I mean, honestly, for a moment I thought I was watching a romantic movie. My heart was actually fluttering!"
Arunoday buried his face in his hands. "Can you please stop?"
Vivek, still chuckling, added, "You know what? I thought you were auditioning for a role in a romantic drama! I didn't expect you to be the leading man with such flair. Will you accept my applause and love?"
Arunoday glared at him. "Get out of here."
Vivek stood up, still grinning. "Alright, alright. But you have to admit, after spying on her for a month, you finally made a move. I'm actually impressed!"
Arunoday looked at him, bewildered. "Spying? What are you talking about?"
Vivek smirked. "Come on! You've been watching her from afar like a secret admirer. Isn't that considered chasing? It's just amazing to see my best friend finally dive into the world of romance. Ha ha ha!"
Arunoday rubbed his temples in frustration. "Leave."
Vivek headed towards the door, still laughing. "Okay, okay! Just don't let me down, Romeo. Make sure this story ends with a happy ending! Good night!"
As the door closed behind Vivek, Arunoday leaned back in his chair, trying to shake off the playful teasing. Despite his irritation, he couldn't help but smile faintly. The day's events had been unexpectedly memorable, and as much as he tried to play it down, Vivek's words had a way of bringing a grin to his face.
Arunoday returned to his work, but his thoughts kept drifting back to the encounter in the rain. The teasing from Vivek might have been irritating, but it also made him reflect on the surprising turn his day had taken. He shook his head with a soft chuckle, realizing that maybe, just maybe, there was more to this day than he had initially thought.
Arunoday finished his work and staggered to bed, hoping for some rest. But sleep eluded him. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, circling around the same frustrating question: Why couldn’t he stop thinking about her?
For a month now, whenever he saw her, his heart would race uncontrollably. It wasn’t a fleeting feeling—it was intense and persistent. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her face.
Tonight was no exception. As he lay in bed, images of their encounter played on repeat in his mind. Her wet hair, clinging to her face, her soaked clothes, and those deep brown eyes that seemed to see straight through him—everything about her was imprinted on his memory.
“What is happening to me?” Arunoday muttered, his frustration growing. “Why can’t I get her out of my head? It’s been a month, and she’s all I can think about. I must be going crazy.” His frustration only increased as he tossed and turned, trying to escape the thoughts.
