=========================Sangeeta's Office
The tickling sound of the clock on the wall echoing through the nearly empty space. The office was empty, dimly lit expanse compared to its usual bustling self. She was still at her desk, surrounded by stacks of drawing and her laptop, which seemed to have become an extension of her weary self. Overtime had been relentless lately, and she was determined to finish the work before leaving.
Suddenly a loud voice broke the silence in that empty office.
Sangeeta: "Haa... It's finally over!"
She leaned back in her chair, stretching her arms and stifling a yawn. The office was quiet, save for the hum of the air conditioning and the clacking of her keyboard.
As she glanced at the clock on the wall, a shock of realization hit her. She let out a surprised scream. "Omg...It's 8 PM! I'm so late!"
Her heart raced as she quickly powered down her laptop, her movements hurried. "Oh no, Jejji(grandmother) must be waiting for me," she muttered, panic rising. She turned off the lights, switched off the fans, and gathered her things, preparing to leave the empty office behind.
She got out of the building and started walking towards the Bus stand. The evening air was cool and refreshing, but it didn't take long for Sangeeta to notice the first few raindrops touching her skin. "Wow! Great," she muttered, as if the universe had decided to add its own dramatic flair. "Perfect timing for a shower I didn't order."
She looked up to see dark clouds gathering, and within moments, the rain began to pour heavily. Sangeeta broke into a run, seeking refuge from the downpour. Her shoes splashed through puddles as she dashed towards a nearby bookstore she had seen earlier.
She pushed open the bookstore's door, escaping the rain and finding shelter among the shelves. wet and breathless, she took a moment to compose herself. She looked around and said, "Seriously, Bhubaneswar and it's rain! Well, at least I'm fashionable in my new 'drowned rat' look."
With a sigh, she searched through her bag, hoping to find her umbrella. Her fingers fumbled through a lot of items: a sandwich wrapper, half a dozen pens that had somehow lost their caps, and a mystery object that turned out to be a stray button.
"Come on, where is it?" she muttered, digging deeper. She pulled out a small makeup pouch and a collection of old receipts, but no umbrella. The more she searched, the more disappointed she was.
As her frustration grew, she slapped her forehead in a dramatic gesture. "I forgot it again!" she exclaimed, loud enough to draw curious glances from nearby customers. "I left my umbrella at home!"
Realization and annoyance mixed as she looked at her empty hands. She groaned, "Why do I always forget the one thing I need? Why does everything have to go wrong today?"
She stands quietly inside the bookstore, watching the rain through the window, a soft sigh escaping her lips.
