==============================The next morning, Arunoday walked into the office, determined to maintain his usual indifference towards Sangeeta. But just as he stepped into the hallway, his gaze fell on her—talking to Ashish again. And laughing.
His grip on the file in his hand tightened. "Again?! How much does she have to laugh in a day? Is he that funny?"
He didn't realize how long he had been standing there, glaring at them, until Megha passed by and gave him a strange look. He immediately turned and stormed into his office, slamming the file onto his desk.
"This is ridiculous. She's an employee, not a college girl here to giggle with random guys."
The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became. He grabbed the intercom and pressed the button.
"Sangeeta, come to my office."
A few minutes later, Sangeeta entered. She looked slightly confused but maintained her professionalism. "Sir, you called for me?"
Arunoday leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "Where's the design I asked for?"
Sangeeta opened her mouth to respond, but he cut her off before she could get a word out. "Oh, you didn't do it? Wow. I think you should focus on your work rather than flirting all day. You're here to work, not to have fun."
Sangeeta blinked. "Sir, I—"
He raised his hand. "No excuses. I don't want to hear it."
A deep sigh escaped Sangeeta's lips as she placed her hands on her hips. "Sir, you're not listening to me. I did finish the design, and it's already on your table!"
Silence.
For two full minutes, neither of them spoke. Arunoday stared at the neatly stacked files on his desk, realizing his mistake. Sangeeta folded her arms, staring directly at him, waiting—hoping—for an apology.
But, of course, Arunoday wouldn't give her that satisfaction.
Maintaining his posture, he cleared his throat. "Do it again."
Sangeeta's jaw dropped. "But sir, you didn't even look at it."
"Do I have to?" he said smoothly. "I'm the boss. If I say do it again, you do it again."
Sangeeta took a deep breath, clearly struggling to keep her temper in check. "Sir, I don't think I'm capable enough to meet your expectations. Maybe you should give it to someone more talented or, more specifically, your type."
Arunoday's jaw tightened. "Who do you think you are to question me? I said do it again. Can't you hear me, or did you leave your ears in the hallway?"
And then it clicked. Sangeeta suddenly understood why he was acting this way. Her lips twitched, but she quickly schooled her expression and walked out to redo the task.
At lunchtime, she sat at the cafeteria table with Megha, discussing the team leader's unreasonable behavior. Ashish overheard and walked over, sitting next to her.
"You should chill," he said with a smile. "Let's go to a café this evening. You'll feel better."
Sangeeta considered it, but before she could respond, she sensed something. A presence.
