Almost half of the first semester at Hogwarts had already passed, and Christina felt more and more like a part of this magical world. But, despite new experiences and friends, she still missed home and family. One of the few consolations were letters from her older brother Alexander and father Victor. They writing to her every week, telling her about the news at home and supporting her in difficult moments. Today Christina was looking forward to new mail. Breakfast in the Great Hall was in full swing when the owls began delivering letters and parcels.
«Dear Christina,
How are you doing at Hogwarts? I often remember my school years and understand how hard it is for you now. But remember that you are strong and capable. Believe in yourself. Everything is fine at home. Father works a lot, and I help him in the workshop. Anna is growing by leaps and bounds and sends her best regards to you. We all miss you very much. Hang in there little sister and remember that we are always there for you in spirit.
With love,
Alexander»Christina smiled after reading the letter. Her brother always knew how to find the right words to support her. He was always her example and mentor. Next she opened a letter from her father.
«Dear Christina,
I hope you have a good time at Hogwarts and learn new and interesting things. We are proud of you and your successes. Here in Britain everything is calm. I'm working on new projects and things are going well.
Anna constantly asks about you and waits for your letters. She sent you a drawing, which I have enclosed in this letter. We all miss you very much and hope you come back for the holidays soon.
Take care of yourself and know that we love you very much.
With love, father»
The letter included a drawing of Anna, which depicted their family. Christina looked tenderly at the children's scribbles and felt warmth in her chest. But the thought of her mother not writing to her darkened her mood again. Mother, always strict and demanding, was disappointed that Christina did not get into Slytherin. She expected more from her daughter, and this pressure was felt even from a distance.
Christina put the letters and drawing in her bag, trying not to show her friends how hard it was for her. But Emma and Lillian, sitting nearby, immediately noticed her mood.
– Chris, are you okay? – Emma asked, looking at her with concern.
– Yes, I just miss home a little, – Christina answered, trying to smile.
– We all miss home, – Lillian said, placing her hand on her friend’s shoulder. – But we have each other. And if you need to talk, we're always here.
Christina felt her eyes fill with tears, but she quickly blinked them away. She was grateful for the support of her new friends.
– Thank you, girls, – she said quietly. – I really need this.
As the day went on, Christina felt a little better knowing she had support. She decided to write letters back to her father and brother, sharing her successes and new friends, and not mentioning how hurt she was by her mother's silence.
