The darkness was suffocating.
Yoongi's eyes fluttered open, but all he could see was pitch black. His head throbbed with a searing pain that radiated down to his neck and shoulders, making it hard to even lift his head. His body ached as if it had been battered and bruised, and every movement sent jolts of pain through his limbs.
He tried to move, but his body felt heavy, unresponsive. Panic began to rise in his chest, squeezing his lungs, making it hard to breathe. His breaths came out in short, ragged gasps as he struggled to make sense of where he was. The last thing he remembered was taking out the trash, the cold air biting at his skin, and then—nothing.
Yoongi blinked, trying to adjust his eyes to the darkness, but it was as if he were trapped in a void, utterly alone. His heart pounded in his chest, fear clawing at his insides as he tried to force his sluggish brain to think. Where was he? What had happened?
And then it hit him. Minho. The rage in his eyes, the strength in his grip as he dragged Yoongi into the storage room. Yoongi's pulse quickened as the memory came flooding back, his throat tightening with terror.
"No... no..." he whispered hoarsely, his voice barely more than a whimper. His body trembled as the realization sank in—he was trapped. Trapped in this dark, cold room with no way out. His heart hammered in his chest as he frantically searched his pockets for his phone, but he came up empty. He had nothing. No way to call for help.
Tears welled up in his eyes, blurring his vision as the darkness pressed in around him, thick and oppressive. He could feel the walls closing in, the air growing thin, and the panic was unbearable. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't think. All he could feel was the overwhelming, crushing fear that threatened to consume him.
Images began to flash through his mind, disjointed and terrifying. His mother's gentle smile, now just a distant memory. His father's stern but loving gaze, forever gone. The funerals, the cold, heartless words of condolence from strangers. The loneliness that had followed him like a shadow ever since their deaths.
His stepbrothers' faces swam before him, cold and distant. The way they had treated him like an outsider, a burden. He had tried so hard to be a part of their family, to find some semblance of warmth and acceptance, but all he had found was rejection and pain.
And now... now he was alone again. Left to die in this cold, dark room.
"No... no, please..." he sobbed, his voice breaking as the tears spilled over, tracing cold paths down his cheeks. "Please... someone... help me..."
But there was no one. No one to hear his cries. No one to save him.
He curled into himself, his body shaking with sobs, his mind spiraling into despair. He couldn't take it anymore. The darkness, the loneliness, the endless pain. He just wanted it to end. He just wanted to disappear, to slip away into nothingness, where there was no more hurt, no more fear.
But then, amidst the swirling darkness, a face appeared in his mind—a smiling face. Warm, comforting. Jungkook.
Yoongi's breath hitched as he thought of Jungkook, the only person who had ever shown him true kindness. The younger boy's laughter, his gentle touch, his words of comfort and love. Jungkook had told him that he loved him, that he would protect him. He had made Yoongi feel safe, even if only for a moment.
But that moment had been enough. It had been a lifeline, something to hold onto in the depths of his despair. And now, even in this dark, terrifying place, Yoongi clung to that memory, to the warmth of Jungkook's smile.
But the memory wasn't enough to keep the darkness at bay. The fear, the pain—it was too much. Yoongi's body shook with uncontrollable sobs as he tried to hold on, but it was like trying to grasp at smoke. His strength was slipping away, the darkness pulling him under.
"........Jungkook..." Yoongi whispered, his voice trembling as he felt himself slipping away. He could feel the cold fingers of unconsciousness wrapping around him, dragging him down into the abyss. The pain was too much, the fear too overwhelming.
He was falling... falling into the darkness... and there was nothing to stop him.
Yoongi's last thought before the darkness claimed him was of Jungkook, the boy who had shown him love when he had thought himself unlovable. The boy who had given him hope when he had none. The boy who had made him feel alive again, if only for a little while.
And then, the darkness took him, and Yoongi knew no more.
