The next day, Yoongi dreaded returning to school. The pain from the previous day's beatings still lingered, both physically and emotionally. Yet, he had no choice. He dragged himself to the school gates, his body already bracing for the inevitable.
The moment he stepped into the classroom, Taehyung and Jimin were on him again. They mocked him, making snide comments about his clothes and his appearance. "You look like you slept in a dumpster, Yoongi," Jimin sneered.
Taehyung chuckled. "Maybe that's where he belongs."
The other students laughed, and Yoongi felt his face burn with shame. He tried to ignore them, but it was impossible. They didn't let up, pushing his books off his desk and tripping him as he walked by.
Lunchtime was no better. Minho and his gang cornered Yoongi in the hallway. "Miss us, loser?" Minho taunted, slamming Yoongi against the lockers. Before Yoongi could react, fists and feet were already flying, hitting him from all sides.
"You're so pretty Yoongi," Minho spat, delivering a final kick to Yoongi's ribs before they walked away, leaving him crumpled on the floor.
This routine repeated itself day after day. Yoongi became a punching bag for Minho's gang and a target for Taehyung and Jimin's cruel jokes. Every day he was left bruised and bloody, his spirit beaten down a little more each time.
A week passed in this torturous cycle. Each evening, Yoongi wandered the streets, desperately searching for a job. He knocked on doors and asked in shops, but no one was willing to hire a high school student, especially one who looked as battered as he did.
.....................................
One evening, as he was about to give up and head back home, Yoongi noticed a sign in front of a bar: "Help Wanted." Desperation and a flicker of hope drove him inside.
The bar was dimly lit and quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos of his school life. Behind the counter stood a man who looked to be in his late twenties, with a kind but weary expression. His name tag read "Eunwoo."
Eunwoo looked up as Yoongi approached. "Can I help you?" he asked, his eyes scanning Yoongi's bruised face and torn clothes.
"I'm looking for a job," Yoongi said, his voice barely more than a whisper. "I'll do anything."Eunwoo frowned, concern etched on his face. "You look like you've been through a lot. How old are you?"
"Seventeen," Yoongi replied, bracing for the rejection he knew was coming.
Eunwoo shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I can't hire a high schooler. It's not safe, and it's against the rules."
Desperation surged through Yoongi. "Please," he begged. "I know how to play the piano. I can play for your customers."
Eunwoo raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite himself. "You can play the piano?"
Yoongi nodded fervently. "Yes, I promise. Just give me a chance."
Eunwoo hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "Alright, show me what you can do."
Yoongi walked over to the old piano in the corner of the bar. His fingers trembled as he touched the keys, but as he started to play, the music flowed out of him, filling the room with a hauntingly beautiful melody. For a moment, all his pain and sorrow disappeared, replaced by the pure emotion of the music.
Eunwoo watched, mesmerized by Yoongi's talent. When the song ended, there was a moment of stunned silence before he spoke. "That was incredible," Eunwoo said, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "I've never heard anything like it."
Yoongi looked up, hope shining in his eyes. "Does that mean...?"
Eunwoo nodded. "You're hired. But you need to take care of yourself, Yoongi. I don't want to see you coming in here looking like this every day."
Tears of relief filled Yoongi's eyes as he bowed deeply. "Thank you. I promise I'll do my best."
As Yoongi left the bar that evening, a small spark of hope kindled in his heart. For the first time in a long while, he felt like he might have a chance to change his life. But he knew it wouldn't be easy. The next day would bring more pain and bullying, but at least now he had something to look forward to, a glimmer of light in the darkness.
