Like with having a secure, good morning routine; having a good night routine is so important. How you go to sleep will determine how many hours you sleep for, and how much time your body has to relax ready for a new day.
Sleep is fundamental to the functioning of your body, and so having a good night routine helps to ensure that you get the right amount of sleep your body needs!
The steps:
- Have a warm shower | | whether you wash your body and hair, or just body; having a shower everyday is so important (ensures relaxation and hygiene is on point).
- Keep your bedroom nice and cool | | if it is too hot, you will struggle to fall asleep!
- Do night time skincare | | make sure you aren't using too many products otherwise your pores will get clogged and cause breakouts.
- Have a 10 minute meditation session | | relaxes your body before sleep.
- Journal | | write what you are happy you did that day and what you are proud of yourself for- GO YOU!
- Spray your pillow with deep sleep spray | | helps your body and mind to associate the smell with sleep (your body will know it is time to go to bed).
- Listen to sleep frequency music | | not compulsory, but I highly recommend!
A big tip is also that if you are struggling to sleep, it is probably because you have been on a screen too close to falling asleep and so your mind and body are awake. Try to limit the amount of screen time before bed, maybe even not going on a screen 30 minutes before you want to fall asleep.
The average teenager (13-18) should have around 8- 10 hours of sleep and an adult (18-25) should have 7-9 hours; so make sure to plan your sleep schedule ahead of time. Think about the next day: what time do you have to wake up? Are you going to be doing a lot? Is there something important going on?
Base that on what time you go to sleep. I promise, it's a lifesaver!
