IX - Winter Lasso

~~ Start ~~

After the first special exam, 2 months passed by as if it was nothing. Suzune and the rest of Class A were having the strongest bond of all. They went out occasionally. They increased their academic skills, group study here, advance lecture there.

It was getting cold. Winter was nearing.

*1 week later*

If you'd ask Suzune what season she hates the most. It would be winter, but if  you also asked what her favorite is, It would also be winter.

Why?

You'd probably think it's because she always got easily sick. Or that she doesn't like being cold. But none of those are the reasons.

Ever since she was a child, Suzune has always loved the winter. She'd play in the snow even if she knew that she'll get sick later on. She'd build snowmans and talk to them. She'd throw ice balls at kids her age, and most of all, she and her brother would drink hot coffee together.

She loved looking at the snowfall. Just like how she's watching it now. Sitting alone on a bench. Covered in thick jackets and a scarf.

Then so, if she loved it so much. Why did she still hate it?

'I wish you didn't become my child!!'

*Flashback*

One beautiful winter night, Suzune came home from school. She went directly to her parents to show them the gift she got from her friend.

Suzune: Mom, Dad! Look what my friends got m-

*Slap*

Suzune's giggles turned to sobs. Confused about why her mother slapped her and why her father was stating at her as if she was nothing but dirt.

'Friends? Friends!?'

'Didn't we tell you to stop with your friendship bullshit!!'

'NOW LOOK AT WHAT YOU FRIENDS DID TO YOUR GRADES!!'

'An A minus? Seriously!?'

'This is the lowest you have become!'

Suzune: But- I- i- did m- my b-best. I- t- the teacher w- was t- trying to touch m- me- B- but I refused- S- so he got angry-

Suzune was trying to explain in tears but to no avail.

'Do you think we'd believe you!?'

'YOU ARE LYING NOW YOU WORTHLESS CHILD!?'

Suzune: N-no I am not L- lying!

Another slap was heard across the room.

'That's it! You are grounded! From now on, you will not have friends! If we even see a friend or less than an A+ on your card! You will be disowned!'

*Present*

She remembered once again that night, and it brought her so much pain. She could ignore it for some time, yes. But she could never forget it.
