X - Last Month

~~ Start ~~

Class A was not in its usual chaotic and noisy room. It was silent. No one wanted to speak.

Suzune let out a low laugh, trying to cheer up everyone.

Suzune: Come on, everyone... It's not like we're not gonna see each other... plus- we still have one month before we separate...

Everyone just stared at her. She sighed.

Their sensei has just announced that they had only one month left until their 3rd year is done, and that means they all need to separate soon.

Kushida: Ye... come on, guys... we'd have to face it one way or another...

Hirata: We can still see each other from time to time...

Kei: Yeah... plus, we can still keep our gc so we can all talk...

They tried so hard, but Suzune and the others just couldn't raise their classmate's mood. It stayed that silent until the end of the class, and it was their homeroom.

Chabashira: I know everyone of you is still a little sad about having only one month... believe me, even I... *sighs* But we can't do anything about it.

Chabashira gave then some more time to breathe till she dropped a bomb.

Chabashira: As that is. I can not tell you this later as this is very important. It will be your last special exam.

They did not even try to act shocked. They knew they still had one last special exam coming for them.

Chabashira: This special exam is called "The last ones standing"

'Huh-? last one standing? What does that even mean...' Suzune has thought of it as what it is. The last one is standing. However, this was a clash of classes. There was no way it would be only one person standing.

She was about to raise her hand when her sensei spoke.

Chabashira: It is what the title says. The last one standing. Now, before you ask the question, let me answer it now. Yes. It will be a clash of classes. However, the rules would be very different for this year's 3rd year exit exam because of a special guest. Now listen carefully to the rules of this exam.

Chabashira: All four classes will be in one place. A modified maze trap. However, it won't be as simple as escaping the maze. This is where the 'last one standing' rule will take place because only one person can exit the maze. •When the remaining students from all classes are near the exit, they would be trapped inside a large room, and that room will only retract once there is only one person left• The class of that 'last man' would be the class that recieves the prices of 2000 Class points. Does anyone have a question?

Kei and Suzune raised her hand, and Chabashira signaled Kei to stand up first.

Kei: How would the people nearing the exit go to the large room?

Chabashira: It's called a modified maze trap for a reason, and you Suzune?

Suzune: You said the room would not retract until only one was left. Can you please elaborate? How would it be only one last person standing? Does that mean... anyone within that room can do whatever they want as long as they win?

Chabashira: Exactly. You answered your question, Suzune. Anyone can do whatever they want. There are no rules to limit anyone.

Suzune's eyes widened.

Suzune: Does that mean... Is any physical damage allowed?

Chabashira: Indeed. To be precise, any type of violence is allowed as long as there would be no murder.

Everyone was shocked. Who wouldn't? They could have broken bones by the end of the exam. What was the school thinking exactly!?

Their class ended, and they went to their respective rooms to calm their nerving anxieties, and while everyone was probably sleeping or resting, one certain student was pondering over a piece of information.

"Because of a special guest"

No one probably noticed it, but Suzune did. The slight change in their sensei's expression did not escape Suzune's watchful eyes. She was wondering how much this so-called 'special guest' has power over the owner of the school or the whole school, perhaps? They had to be very influential if the school would make a special set of rules just for them. Or maybe... she was just overthinking this. Her head hurts. Yep. She was just overthinking this. She needs to sleep.

The whole class did nothing but improve their critical and physical abilities for the upcoming exam. They were all in the gym right now. Testing who is with who. Their game plan was to stick in partners as it would be easier to go through the maze than being in singles. The partners are as listed:

Suzune and Koenji
Kei and Hirata
Kushida and Sudo
And the list goes on...

One week passed, and their dreaded last exam is about to happen in the next few hours. They were all inside a bus and being escorted to the who knows where Modified maze trap. Everybody was anxious, and Suzune was thinking of maybe giving some motivational speech. However, she was just as anxious, so she decided to just look through the window to calm herself down.

Suzune ended up sleeping through the ride and just woke up when she felt the bus stop moving. They had arrived.

All four classes were outside of their buses and staring at the massive walls in front of them. In front was an entrance that led to who knows where. They all haven't even entered, but they knew this was definitely not a normal exam. There was never a normal exam in this school, but this? This was beyond their imagination.

The speaker then went in front and spoke.

Speaker: As you all know, this will be a last man standing. There would be no more words needed, but I bid you all. Good luck.

Suzune was anxious, but oh boy... she did not know this would mark her fate for the next years of her life.

Hi Darlings!!! I am so sorry for posting after so long once again! A lot of things just happened, and don't get me started with my phone breaking. I just got it fixed today!

This chapter was supposed to be up last week 😭 so I'm really sorry for the delay!

And worry not! Things will get... interesting from now on... I hope ehe 😝
