Continue from the last chapter,,

Realizing the awkward situation they are in, bondita jerked away, clearing her throat as she adjusts her scarf. "What are you doing? What do you want from me, what else-"

"I am sorry"

"Stop saying that-"

"I am sorry for not being honest with my feelings a year ago. I was scared and I was-"

"Stop"

Bondita turned away, not wanting to look at Anirudh as she tries to control her waves of mixed emotions, fighting the urge to cry. She is not in the state to be having this conversation. Despite wanting to hear Anirudh's explanation, a part of her knows it wouldn't be on par with all the pain she has been feeling since the day she left, till that very moment. The pain, all those painful nights-it broke her.

Anirudh knows bondita won't listen to him. Deep down, he knows it is entirely his fault for letting her leave a year ago. He was lost and almost at the edge of losing himself when bondita left. He feels the guilt creeping on him every night, haunting him as he tries to sleep. Not a day passed that he didn't think of her and all the things he should have done.

He has been living with so many regrets

And now that bondita is here, in front of him. He is not letting her go.

Not again. Not this time.

"Let me fix my mistakes", he said softly, eyes gleaming with hope that bondita would listen to him.

"Anirudh, please don't do this to me. You should have signed the annulment. Why on earth didn't you-"

"I love you"

Bondita feels every inch of her existence began to twirl into another dimension, as if she has been sucked into another parallel universe when she heard those words coming out of Anirudh's mouth. Flicking her eyes up, staring aimlessly at the empty walkway in front of her, bondita feels her heart pacing fast. So fast she could almost feel the numbing pain building on her chest, making it hard for her to breathe.

What did he just say?

"I love you, Bondita Anirudh Roy Chowdhury. It took me so long to realize this, and it was too late for me to make it right. But...", Anirudh gulps, feeling anxious as he looks at bondita standing still in front of him.

"I want to make it right now. I want to fix my mistakes. I want to do everything that I didn't back then", he inched forward, slowly.

"Stop. Just...just stop and don't..just don't Anirudh. I can't do this anymore-"

"Give me a chance", he halted just behind her, looking down at her small frame, fighting all urge to embrace her again after all these years. "Give me a chance", he said again, softly.

"BONDITAAAAA!!!!!!"

The sudden sound of her name coming from the other side of the road made both of them turn to look across the street. Stood there is Sana, waving at her excitedly as her other hand carried a plastic bag filled with her groceries.

Taking this opportunity to escape, bondita quickly curved a smile as she ran to Sana without even turning to Anirudh. She couldn't even look at him at that moment. She needs to clear her mind. She needs to go home and forget everything.

Did he really mean what he said just now?

Anirudh watched as Bondita dashed towards the tall girl from across the street, leaving him there alone. It hurts, but deep down, he knows nothing can be compared with whatever bondita had faced. But that won't stop him from trying to win her heart again. He will do everything that it takes to make Bondita accept him.
