Chapter 05

"Bakit ngayon lang kayo?"

Bumungad sa'min ang galit na mukha ni Papa. "Where the hell have you guys been?" He asks once again. I looked at Kuya Luke asking for help, but he just shrugged his shoulders.

"Well Valerie-"

"I had practice with my classmates for my retdem!" Kuya Luke looked at me as well as Papa.

"Retdem?" Papa asked me.

"Yes, it's something that a nursing student does. Retdem means return demonstration-"

"Okay, I get you. Pero, bakit hindi ka man lang nag text-or-tumawag sa isa samin? We're worried, kasi hindi ka man lang sumagot sa mga text ko."

May text si Papa? Pero wala naman akong natanggap. I took out my phone and checked my messages, wala namang text. "Are you sure Pa? But you haven't send any text to me."

"Yes I did." Kinuha din ni Papa ang cellphone niya at nanigas sa pwesto.

"Why?" Curious akong na patanong dahil sa ikinilos niya.

"I guess Papa forgot to send it? Wow Pa, seems like you are really getting old." Pag tawa ni Kuya Luke.

Lumapit ako kay Papa at tinignan ang cell phone niya. His text message wasn't really sent, and most of his text were sent at Val, which is Papa's brother, tito Valerio. Lumayo ako kay Papa at nag taklob ng bibig-pilit na itinatago ang pagtawa.

"Go to your room." Napahawak nalang sa sentido si Papa habang sinunod nalang namin ang utos neto. Kuya brought my bag to my room and left if beside the door.

"Sleep tight, I'll tell Lanz to pick you up early than usual." I nodded my head and kissed his cheeks before closing the door.

Hinagis ko ang katawan ko sa kama, tinatamad na akong magpalit ng damit! Wala na akong lakas para  bumangon, at wala na din akong lakas para mag review! Tomorrow's exam is Bioethic, and all of my review for that subject just got lost! Ayoko nang magbukas ng libro, ayoko nang magbasa ng mga medical terms! Na-bobobo na ako ng wagas!

"You can do this Valerie! Malapit kanang mag tapos, konting kembot nalang 4th year kana-ay hindi pa pala, magse-second sem palang pala." Sinampal ko ang dalawa kong pisnge para magising sa katotohana.

Valerie, Umayos ka. Midterms ito, hindi lang basta, bastang pagsusubok. You can do this! Alam mo yan sa sarili mo!

Tamad kong ibinagon ang sarili ko at nag palit ng damit bago dumapa sa kama. Kinuha ko ang laptop ko at ang libro at notebook ko, mag pupuyat tayo para sa kinabukasan natin!

Two hours later. I'm on lesson two, which is really bad. My exam contains lesson one to lesson five, which is making it harder for me to rest.

I close my laptop and rest my back at the bed frame. It's 11:02 and dumadali na ang pagkagutom ko. Teka, I think the other big mac is inside my bag.

Tumayo ako sa pagkakaupo sa kama at kinuha ang bag ko na nasa tabi ng pinto. Please be here, please be here...

"Omg! My life supply!" Masayang kong nilabas ang paper box na nasa bag ko at sumayaw sa tuwa.

I opened it and saw the most beautiful thing in my life. A half eaten burger! Good thing talaga na dalawang burger order ang binili namin ni Kuya! Bumalik ako sa kama ko at nagpatulog sa pag rereview. I opened my laptop once again and did my business.
