"She's in here?" Lincoln asked.

"Yup. Bound with rope. Even so, don't get too close, will ya?"

"I'll feel things out."

"Uh-huh."

Helsing unlocked the door and widened it; the light poured in and acted like a spotlight, illuminating the restricted Lucy that sat there tamely. The moment Lincoln saw her face, he felt a nostalgia deeply spawn. His face was quick to smile, but just as quick to turn sour. Though his sibling ostensibly returned, he'd yet answered why.

"Lucy?"

"Yes... Lincoln!"

She jolted forward but the ropes held her too tight. The resistance pushed her back against the wall and her head rested against it languidly. Lincoln's tone turned more serious and interrogative, disregarding any warmth that stemmed from their familial connection.

"Why are you here? Why now? Why did you do what you did then?"

She gave a weak smile and said:

"...You look so much older now. So mature. So strong. When they were holding you down and sapping you of your life, I wanted to cry. I don't know what shred of humanity I have that our other siblings lost, but it makes me so happy to see now that you seem capable. If it were to happen again, I bet you'd be able to fight them off!"

Lincoln smiled at this. She spotted his fangs in a faint glimmer of light.

"So it's true. You became one too. Oh Lincoln, I'm so sorry. I wish you weren't dragged into all this. I wish life could be as simple as the fairytales you hear when you're young. Why is the world so cruel?"

He felt tears beg for release, but painfully choked them back.

"Why are you here, Lucy? How did you find me?"

"You've become famed far and wide amongst vampires. They're calling you El Cazador, or 'The Hunter.' The man who seems alone in his ability to eliminate vampires with such ease. You're fabled for traveling the country and staking all fanged in your sight. Unstoppable, they say! A man with unmatched power and scare factor!"

"Wow, people do rumor, don't they?"

"Is it true? Did you really kill Zayus Greek, Lord of the Vampiric?"

"Sure did. You know of him?"

"Of course! What vampire doesn't? The army he carried with him, he was basically a war general! Evil to all who opposed him! You killed him? How?!"

"I shoved garlic down his pale throat."

"Incredible..."

The awe that struck her put the room in silence a moment, before finally Helsing repeated Lincoln's question.

"How did you find Lincoln?"

"You must be Helsing. El Perro Negro; The Black Dog! Your strength is told to be equally impressive! Sorry, right, your question! After killing Zayus, the name Lincoln started to be uttered more and more in the darkest parts of America. Many rumors were passed around about where you two were located or heading, but none of them were true. It wasn't until I heard a vampire preaching to his group of friends the terror that he saw in a large war. He said his commander, Zayus, was murdered, along with every soldier who moved at his command. This speaking vampire was the only one to slink away and survive without being noticed, and he's the one who said the name "Stark County."

"Great," said Lincoln, "so one of them got away."

"Yes, but anyway, the reason I came is that... I've missed you. A day hasn't gone by where I've not thought of you. It pained me so much—tortured me!—to see you lying there under the weight of our sisters, bleeding and turning sick. It nauseated me, the feeling of wanting to weep. I held myself together, I knew they'd turn on me in a second, as savage as they were at the time."

"Lucy. Where are they now?"

"I'm not sure. They could be anywhere. I parted from them. They could all be together, or they may have disbanded and dispersed to different towns or states. I'm useless when it comes to information about our family, to be honest."

It was all so shocking, still, and Lincoln couldn't think of much else to ask. He was suppressing an urge that eventually became too overbearing for him to ignore. He jumped forward and cut her free of the rope, and finally free, they embraced in a hug.

"I'm sorry, Lincoln."

"It's okay, Lucy. I forgive you."
