AUTHOR'S POV:-

Preeti charges into the living area and envelops Riya's mother in a fierce, tight hug. Riya's mother, seated there, responds with equal intensity, embracing Preeti back and tenderly stroking her head. She leans in closely, her voice filled with concern, and whispers, "What's wrong bachha?"

Preeti breaks the hug and fixes a steely gaze on Riya's mom, her tone filled with frustration and complaint, "Aunty, do you know that Reyansh relentlessly taunted me today? He displayed extreme rudeness, and to make matters worse, Riya sided with him instead of supporting me."

Riya, who had been following Preeti as they spoke, interjects with force, "Preeti, I didn't take sides because both of you were wrong. Yes, in the cafeteria, I had to tell you to back off because you started it. I'm not favoring Reyansh; I simply pointed out that you shouldn't have instigated it. I understand your possessiveness, but your behavior towards him was disrespectful, prompting my intervention. With him being injured and friendless in college, my assistance was merely an act of basic humanity. Both of you were equally at fault in the argument, so spare me from being dragged into your petty disputes," she asserts firmly.

Anjali: "What happened to Reyansh?"

Riya: "He had an accident, Mom. It occurred last night while he was on his way home."

Anjali: "Oh no, how is he, bachaa?"

Riya: "He is severely injured. During the course of assisting him, there was a confrontation between him and Preeti."

Preeti :- Babe he was --

Riya's mother's tone sharpens as she commands, "Listen up! Both of you, don't even think about starting a fight. I'll have a word with Reyansh." She then turns to Preeti, her eyes piercing, and warns, "And you, Preeti, better not start any trouble either, understand?" Preeti nods quickly in agreement and replies, "Okay, Auntie."

Continuing her firm instructions, Riya's mother commands, "Alright, now you two, freshen up and begin your study session. I'll be back with some snacks to munch on." Preeti nods obediently, affirming, "Yes, Auntie," while Riya acknowledges her mother with a nod and a "Yes, Mom," before both girls promptly leave the room.

Both of them storm into the room, Preeti's face contorted in anger, her eyes flashing as she pouts and folds her arms, taking a seat on the bed. Riya, sensing the tension but determined to lift Preeti's mood, strides purposefully over to the speaker system. With a quick flourish, she selects the song "NACH MERI JAAN" from the movie "Tubelight", a melody that resonates with the intensity of the moment, filling the room with a powerful and dramatic energy.

As the music swells, Riya's voice rises in a passionate rendition of the lyrics, her voice carrying the weight of unspoken emotions. Preeti, feeling the shift in the atmosphere and touched by Riya's efforts, joins in with a newfound sense of joy, her voice blending seamlessly with Riya's in harmony.

The room, once a battleground of anger and frustration, is transformed into a haven of joy and connection as Preeti and Riya dance in perfect synchrony. Their movements mirror the rise and fall of the music, their spirits lifted by the melody and the shared moment of pure happiness. With every step and twirl, the weight of their troubles fades away, replaced by the simple joy of being alive and together in that singular moment.

This dance, born out of a desire to mend and uplift, becomes a memory they will cherish—a moment of magic in the midst of everyday life, a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the healing balm of music.

Both of them grow weary from their spirited dance, their chests rising and falling as they pant for breath. They share a knowing look, their eyes sparkling with mirth. Suddenly, their attention is drawn to Anjali, who stands at the room door, gazing at them affectionately with a warm smile playing on her lips. Anjali begins to walk towards them, carrying smoothie bowls,  which she places delicately on the table. She pulls them into a tender side hug, planting a gentle kiss on their heads. In return, Preeti and Riya chuckle softly and each press a kiss to Anjali's cheek, their bond strengthened by this simple yet profound gesture of affection.
