Y/N POV

i spent the day talking to my brother. recently we had reconnected, well he followed me on instagram. i pretty much just stayed home all day while we caught up on our lives. he's married now with kids, his wife is beautiful, his kids won the genetic lottery.

it turns out that sam also moved to japan. he's been living here since he left our parents' house. he gave me his address and turns out he was close to the university.

i tell him that i'd love to meet his new family in person one day, after all, it would be nice to have another mother figure in my life.

he has three kids, two boys and one girl. i told him i was going to be the aunt that spoiled them rotten. he laughed and said he wouldn't have it any other way.

he invited me to his house for dinner this weekend and i accepted. this could be a step forward in my life that wasn't just atsumu related.

"goodnight sam, tell akira i say goodnight too" i said. "goodnight, y/n!" akira yells, "goodnight
y/n" sam says, hanging up the phone.

i smiled knowing that i was back in contact with my brother again. he asked me not to tell my parents about his whereabouts and i happily obliged.

after the long phone call, i got into bed and almost fell asleep, until a familiar ringtone started to play.

i froze. the only time i ever heard that specific ringtone was when he texted me.

did he read my letter?

were my parents really behind the pain and suffering i had?

i carefully picked up my phone, unlocking it. i saw a text from atsumu with one letter. x.

i gasped. my parents were behind this. they probably paid him off and this is the result of it. there they go again, always sticking their nose where it doesn't belong.

i felt a boulder being taken off of my shoulder. i finally had the closure that i needed. i finally knew why he did it. and i was livid.

i instantly texted my parents telling them that we had to talk the next day.

thankfully, my parents were in japan staying at their house here. the next morning i got ready and drove to their house, running through what i was going to say in my head.

i pulled into the driveway and got out. i used my key to get in and announced my arrival. "we're in the living room!" my mom yelled.

"what did you want to talk about?" my father asked. "i know what you did to atsumu" i said, sitting on the couch. "i don't know what you're talking about" my mother huffed.

"i know you guys probably paid them off or something! and don't worry, no one broke their non disclosures" i rolled my eyes. "who told you?" my dad said, raising his voice.

"it doesn't matter who told me because i know! and by the way, i'm a grown ass woman! i can make my own choices!" i exclaimed. "you don't know what's good for you" my mother said.

"just like how you didn't know what was good for sam? look where you are now" i said angrily. "do not bring him up" my mother said sternly. "i'll bring him up whenever i wanna bring him up! how dare you try and mess with my love life." i said.

"as long as we're helping you financially, we control you" my father said. "unless you forgot, i make a lot of money now. i've been paying for my own rent, my phone bill, groceries, everything! the only thing you guys pay for is my tuition and my credit card that i don't even use! take away your tuition money for all i care! i make enough to pay for it myself anyways" i said, standing up.

i made my way towards the door when my mom followed me and held my wrist. "you will not talk to us like that, young lady" she said, slapping me across the face.

"you guys are driving me away just like you drove sam away" i said bitterly. she let go and her eyes widened. "don't ever contact me again" i said, slamming the door.

as i drove off, i could hear my parents screaming at me to come back.

when i got home, i called my brother and told him what happened. after that i told hana and keiko.

"no way, that's crazy!" keiko said. "what're you gonna do now?" hana asked. "i don't know, what should i do? i feel like i just need a few days to process this. i mean i basically just cut off my parents" i sighed.

"i think that's best to be honest. just take a few days or a week to process everything. and when you're ready, you can figure things out with atsumu. rin told me this whole situation has been hard on him" keiko said.

"you're right" i said.
