She looked up at me, her eyes flickering with a mixture of surprise and curiosity, but made no argument. Wordlessly, she took my hand and allowed me to lead her away from the living area and into our shared bedroom.

Once we were alone in the privacy of our room, I closed the door behind us. The silence hung heavily between us, the sound of our breathing the only thing breaking the tension.

I turned to face her, studying her features for any sign of what was on her mind. She stood in the middle of the room, her arms crossed tightly across her chest, her gaze focused on the floor.

"Billie," I started gently, my voice filled with concern. "You can talk to me, you know. Whatever it is that's troubling you, you can tell me."

She let out a small, shaky sigh, her shoulders slumping slightly. "It's nothing," she muttered, her eyes still fixed on the floor. "I just... I don't know. I'm feeling overwhelmed, I guess."

I moved closer to her, gently reaching out to take her hand. "Overwhelmed with what?" I asked softly, my thumb tracing soothing circles on the back of her hand.

As we stood there, me holding her hand and trying to comfort her, I could see the vulnerability in her eyes, the fear that had been haunting her all evening. "Billie," I gently coaxed. "What's really going on in your head? You can tell me."

There was a long moment of silence as she struggled to find the words. Finally, she looked at me, tears glistening in her eyes. "I'm scared," she whispered, her voice barely above a shaky whisper. "I'm scared that I'm going to lose you again."

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. I hadn't realized the extent to which my decision a year ago had affected her, how deep the fear of losing me ran. I squeezed her hand gently, moving closer to her. "Billie," I said softly, trying to reassure her. "You won't lose me. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."

She looked at me with a mixture of hope and skepticism in her eyes. "But what if you do?" she asked, her voice filled with desperation. "What if you decide you're better off without me again? What if I mess up somehow and you leave?"

My heart ached for her, wanting nothing more than to ease her fears and make her believe in our love. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into a tight embrace. "Billie, listen to me," I said firmly, my eyes locked with hers. "I am not going anywhere. What I did last year was a selfish mistake, and I'd never make it again."

She buried her face into my shoulder, her body trembling slightly as she clung to me. "How can I be sure?" she mumbled, her voice muffled against my shirt. "I can't go through that kind of pain again."

I held her tighter, running my fingers through her hair in a soothing motion. "You just have to trust me," I replied softly, my own voice filled with emotion. "I know it's not easy, but you have to believe that I've learned from my mistake. I've realized how much you mean to me, how idiotic I was to let you go."

She pulled back slightly, looking up at me with tear-filled eyes. "I want to trust you," she whispered. "But it's hard when I'm so scared of getting hurt again."

I cupped her face gently, my thumbs wiping away the tears that had escaped down her cheeks. "I understand your fear, and I don't blame you for feeling that way," I said, my voice gentle yet firm. "But you have to know that I love you. Truly and deeply."

As she nodded, I continued holding her, rocking her gently in my arms. Her body was still tense, but I could feel her slowly beginning to relax, her breathing becoming steadier. In an attempt to make her feel even more comfortable, I reached for the blanket on the bed and carefully wrapped it around her.

I couldn't help but notice how cute she looked, wrapped in the blanket, her hair messier than usual, and her face vulnerable and open. Without thinking, I grabbed my phone and quickly snapped a picture of her, just to capture this moment of vulnerability.
