Offroad POV
Offroad was busy stocking shelves when he heard the chime alerting him a customer was coming into the store. Offroad had come in a few hours early since he was released from his other job, there really was no point in going home to just come back out so he had headed over to the store and started doing some of the storefront stuff while he had Tong working in the back organizing, something the kid had been bugging him to do. Offroad peaked his head around the aisle and saw an elderly lady just standing there looking around. She wasn't old but definitely old enough to be his mother.
"Hi there!" Offroad called to her. "Can I help you find something?" Offroad asked as the woman's gaze landed on him a big smile spread across her face.
"Yes, I'm looking for some snacks and some drinks for about 3-4 boys. Can you help me?" She asked. Offroad nodded with a smile and set down the box of stuff he had been stocking and proceeded over to the lady.
"What kind of snacks and drinks?" Offroad asked her as he grabbed a basket that was by the door.
"Pick me ups, cooling, filling, and hopefully nutritious." She said, smiling at him.
"I can recommend a very good noodle stall down the road?" Offroad laughed.
"Unfortunately I don't have much time, and I would hate to have his dinner go cold." She sighed. Offroad directed her down the snack aisle and helped her pick out some chips, some meat snacks, a few different drinks, a few cold items that could be eaten cold or heated up in the microwave, and a couple of chocolatey sweets, before leading her to the register.
"Was there anything else before I finished ringing you up?" Offroad asked as he started scanning the items.
"Actually maybe there is," The lady smiled at him. "Could you give my son a chance?" The woman asked and Offroad froze mid-scan.
"I'm sorry?" Offroad asked confused.
"You see my son is the owner of the shop across the way here and -"
"Daou?" Offroad asked, interrupting her.
"Yes!" She smiled brightly at him. "He has told me all about you and -"
"95.47," Offroad said, interrupting her again.
"Excuse me?" She asked, confused.
"The total that is due is 95.47," Offroad spoke again.
"Oh yes," the woman said, pulling out her phone and paying. "Anyways, my son talks about you all the time, and last night he seemed particularly down so I was hoping I could persuade you to give him a chance." Offroad didn't want to be rude to this lady but Daou had really sunk low.
"Is that why you came in today?" Offroad asked.
"Partially, Daou is a grump today and I wanted to get some snacks for the other boys and figure this would be the perfect opportunity to finally meet you." The lady smiled at him as she gathered the bags.
"Nice to meet you and thank you for shopping with us but the answer is no," Offroad said to her trying to keep his voice calm.
"Oh, are you not into boys? I'm sorry if-"
"No, that is not the issue," Offroad said, cutting her off. "Me and your son will just never be compatible. We want different things in life. And I won't start something with anyone if I can see a future with them."
"That sounds very lonely," the woman said to him with a sad look on her face.
"Lonely possibly but I'm not the one getting smacked in the face every other day by a different person," Offroad said, feeling the venom starting to pour out into his words.
