Offroad POV

Offroad was in the back of the store doing accounting work, when he began to hear raised voices from the front. Peach was working the front so Offroad quickly rushed to the front to see what was going on. Peach was arguing with a young-looking guy over needing to see his ID for a pack of cigarettes.

"Literally no one fucking IDs me!" The boy screamed into Peach's face.

"Guess what asshole I AM!" Peach screamed back, moving closer to the boy's face going toe to toe with him.

"Listen, sweetheart-"

"SWEETHEART?" Peach yelled and Offroad knew that was his cue to step in.

"Peach!" Offroad yelled as he rushed over to her. "Chill," Offroad said, stepping in between her and the counter.

"Fuck this guy, calling me sweetheart," Peach yelled trying to move around Offroad.

"Peach!" Offroad yelled again, "I've got this," Offroad glared at her hard. Peach huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. Offroad turned to face the boy. "Sorry but there is a sign on the door before you come in we have to ID everyone, do you have your ID on you?"

"No," The boy grumbled. "Look, you see that shop over there?" Offroad looked to see the boy point to Daous' shop. "My friend is the owner, he can vouch for me,"

"Then have him come over and buy them, without your ID sorry we aren't selling to you." Offroad shrugged this time he was the one who crossed his arms over his chest not believing the man actually knew who Daou was he had seen this trick before. Their stare down was interrupted by a cell phone ringing. The boy held a finger and answered the phone.

"Head I just dropped it off Daou has it," the man spoke into the phone. "I know I know I told him the date and time." The boy paused to listen to the other person. "Hey can you pick me up down from his shop I gotta go find another store then fucking place IDs and I still need to get mine replaced." The boy said as he turned from the counter and made his way to the cooler grabbing a drink and sitting it down on the counter. "Nah I pissed him off by saying something about the piece of ass he has been trying to get." Offroad froze his hand halfway to the drink. "Eh, according to the shop guys, the dinner must have worked. He was all chipper this morning. Hopefully, we don't have to listen to him whine anymore."

"Off?" Peach asked in a quiet voice as he felt a hand on his arm. Offroad shook it off and scanned the soda and the pack of cigarettes causing the boy to raise an eyebrow at him.

"Never mind pick me up at his shop, looks like the pretty boy came to his senses," the boy winked at Offroad and Offroad just made a disgusted face and walked away leaving peace to finish the transaction. Offroad quickly made his way back to the back and ran to the bathroom. Shutting and locking the door behind him.

He pulled at his phone and frantically called Daou, but the call went directly to voicemail and Offroads' heart sank. He tried to remain calm and logical but he realized he hadn't heard a word from Daou all day. It was almost time for the shop to close. Offroad didn't want to believe it but as he tried to call Daou one more time he could feel the sadness and anger seeping in.

"Offroad?" He heard Peach call through the door.

"I'll be out in a minute," Offroad called, trying to blink away his tears.

"That dude was a jackass, do you want me to get Daou," Peach asked.

"No he is busy I don't want to bug him," Offroad spoke. "I'm fine, I just need a minute,"

"Did you have a good date?" Peach asked. Offroad nodded but then realized Peach couldn't see him nodding.

"Yeah," He finally said, his voice cracking.
