Offroad POV

Offroad stood back with Boss and Noeul, feeling a pit settle in his stomach. He didn't like this. He watched as someone walked between the bikes after signaling to both Daou and Pond. When they gave the go signal, they shot off the line.

"How long does it take for them to come back?" Offroad anxiously asked.

"About three minutes. They circle around at the end; that's where most people crash," Boss said, trying to look over the top of people's heads.

"Daou won't crash, will he?" Offroad asked nervously.

"No," Noeul responded, giving Boss's stomach a light slap. "He won't."

"What was that for?" Boss grumbled, holding his stomach.

"He does stand a chance against Pond, though," Dean laughed.

"You know he's obsessed with me, right? That's why you're here," Offroad said, informing the man.

"Eh, he seems like he knows how to show someone a good time out on the town," Dean shrugged, and Offroad laughed.

"You know he's broke, right?" Offroad said as the boy's eyes went wide. "I'm his accountant. All his money is in a trust he can't touch."

"I see lights!" someone shouted from the crowd as the cheering began. Offroad made his way through the crowd that had pushed to the front. That's when he saw two headlights getting closer and closer. Offroad stood in silence as the cheers grew louder. He saw Daou's bike come into the light first and speed past the finish line.

"Did he win?!" Offroad asked excitedly as people around them started cheering his name.

"Yes!" Noeul answered excitedly, jumping up and down. Offroad watched as Daou's bike came to a stop, and he killed the engine. People immediately rushed him, offering congratulations. Offroad stayed back, feeling uneasy as a bunch of really pretty boys scrambled toward him. "Go congratulate him," Noeul said, giving Offroad's back a little shove.

"There's a lot of people; I'll stay back here," Offroad laughed. Noeul shrugged and grabbed Boss by the hand, pulling him into the crowd to celebrate. Offroad watched as everyone excitedly jumped around. He caught Daou's eye and saw his smile grow. Offroad gave him a little wave. Daou mouthed the words 'I love you' and sent Offroad a little wink before continuing to jump around.

"You are never going to fit into his life," Offroad heard Dean scoff.

"There's more to his life than just this," Offroad said, trying to ignore the words and rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, fucking," Daou snorted. "You'll never come first."

"Fuck off," Offroad said, annoyed now.

"Babe!" Offroad heard Daou call before he was scooped up in a hug. "Did you see?" Daou asked excitedly, spinning Offroad around.

"I did! Congratulations! Do you get a trophy or something?" Offroad asked as Daou set him back down.

"If twenty thousand counts as a trophy, then yeah," Daou said eagerly.

"Oh, like a grand prize?" Offroad asked.

"No, the bet was for twenty grand," Boss chimed in. "The loser has to forfeit the money they paid in."

"Oh, who's losing twenty grand then? Because that sucks," Offroad laughed.

"Pond, babe," Daou said, giving him a strange look.

"What? No, that's impossible," Offroad laughed, thinking it was a joke. But his laughter quickly faded as he felt the stares from Boss, Noeul, and Daou. "No, you don't understand. I'm Pond's accountant. He's broke; his father put his inheritance into a trust."
