Around eleven that morning, I went downstairs. I've been recharging myself with sleep all morning and haven't even had breakfast yet.

I went to the kitchen and cooked so everyone could eat home made food. It's been almost a week and my husband and daughter have been ordering in a lot.

After about two hours, I was finally done. I prepared the table and went upstairs to call Maya and Taylor to come join me.

I heard the piano and the girls laughing and discussing when I entered the music room.

"Mom!" Maya said still laughing at whatever she and Taylor were talking about.

Taylor turned around, looking at me and my heart dropped to my stomach.  I felt hot as her eyes pierced through my soul.

I cleared my throat and finally spoke. "You girls hungry? I cooked" I said screaming awkwardness.

"You're being awkward mom." Maya said going downstairs.

I turned around to leave, then she spoke; "thank you" she said subtly. "I haven't really slept in a while. Thanks for keeping me safe" she said awkwardly walking out of the room downstairs and I followed closely behind.

The three of us ate and I decided to bring my husband lunch in the office. It's been awhile since I went to his work place. I haven't been there in months and I've been really busy at the hospital lately and haven't been giving him proper attention.

I just wanted to surprise him so I went to his place of work but the receptionist said he wasn't in. I felt sad but just went back home after sitting in his office for about two hours with him not showing up.

Late in the evening, he came back home totally exhausted again. "You're really tiring yourself out at the office. Did you have a meeting outside work today?" I asked as I took his suit off.

"Nahhh... I was at the office all day, diving into paper works" he replied. I heard what he said but just to be sure "you were at the office all day?" I asked again not wanting to believe that he just lied to me.

"Yeah, I was at the office all day. I needed to deal with this Samrat's mess, he's at it again" Maybe he just stepped out for a bit when I was at the office. And he didn't see it as relevant and that's why he said he was at the office all day. "Esta, you always read too much into things" I shrugged it off and went downstairs.

I heated up the food in the microwave and set the table for him. He showered and came downstairs to eat. He was fast asleep when he got back upstairs.

It has been like this for a while now. We haven't had sex for almost two months. It's either he's tired, he's busy or another excuse. Even when I make out time for him, he's never available.

The next day, he headed out really early to work again, on a Sunday? I didn't want to be the suspicious wife but I went to his work place again with the pretence of bringing him lunch.

I got there and the building was closed with no one inside except for the security in front. "Is Mr Raj Khan in? I'm here to see him." I said to the security.

"No, there's no one here. The company is closed on Sundays."

"But the boss can come whenever he wants" I argued knowing that Raj left the house this morning going to work and he has done this every Sunday before now.

"Yes the boss might come in on Sundays but only if there's an emergency. And there's none today so..." He paused trying to figure out why I'm there.
