It has been two days after the incident at Raj's parents house and I still haven't decided on what to do. Whichever option I pick, I'll end up getting hurt.

If I do as Maya requested, Raj also gains from it and I don't want that. I paced back and forth in that empty house, thinking through all my options.

Taylor didn't come by the house either. Her father is back home and she's spending as much time as possible with him before he leaves again. Just like Maya, I think Taylor is also a daddy's girl.

I was still deep in thought when my phone rang. It was Maya. I didn't want to pick up but I couldn't ignore her.

"Hello" I said, desperately hoping that she doesn't ask about what I've decided to do.

"Good evening mom. I haven't heard from you yet. What have you decided?" She asked, the one thing I wish she wouldn't.

I stayed quiet for a while "come to the house" I said

"Daddy and I?" She asked excitedly.

"Yes but... I'm not ready to forgive him yet. He can use the guest bedroom for now" she was immediately overjoyed. I could feel her hopping happily, before hanging up.

I immediately regretted my decision but I've already said it and can't take it back.

Around 9pm, Raj and Maya got home. Maya hugged me thanking me again as Raj dragged his disappointment into the house.

I looked at him disgustingly from head to toe and hissed before going up to my room. I know he was listening in on my conversation with Maya. I know the phone was on speaker mode. In fact, they're the ones who even instigated her to make that call.

But unlike him, I love my daughter unconditionally and would never use her as a means to an end.

The next day, I drove Maya to school. I haven't seen her in a while and wanted to bond with her again. She was nice to me and not being her usual self.

I think she's trying not to provoke me but she doesn't have to. I love her regardless.

A few weeks later, it was time for Taylor's birthday and because of the close relationship between Taylor and my family, we went over to celebrate with her.

I thought it was going to be just a small gathering of close friends but it was a full blown party. I've never been to Taylor's house before but frankly, this house is a castle. I was really amazed at how beautiful the Sinclair's home was.

Raj, Maya and I went together. We had to go together as a pretend family even though Raj and I hardly talks and I can't stand being in a room with him.

I was looking around, greeting people I don't even know but then I stopped. I saw a banner with "congratulations, you're now an adult"  written on it. "She's now an adult?" I thought to myself as I finally spots the Sinclairs and Raj and I went over to greet them. Although I hadn't seen Taylor yet.

The birthday cake was enormous and stood right at the centre of the event. And on top of it was the number '18' placed.

I couldn't be more shocked. Before I could process what I just saw, Taylor tapped me from behind and I turn around. "You're 18?" Were the first words that came out of my mouth.
