Ayaki rewatched the video she had recorded of Kushida and Ayanokoji on the rooftop. She thought to herself that witnessing the scene in real life was far more intense than watching it again on her phone. With a sigh, she collapsed onto her bed, closing her eyes for a moment. However, a thought quickly jolted her awake-she remembered from the light novel that Ayanokoji had left his dorm to grab a drink from the vending machine and ran into Horikita-san with her older brother, Manabu Horikita, the man she had first seen in person at the club fair.
Not wanting to miss the scene, Ayaki jumped up from her bed and swiftly left her dorm room. She raced down the stairs, practically flying through the corridors in her haste. But in her rush, she collided with someone, smacking right into a firm chest.
"Ouch," she whimpered as she fell to the ground, rubbing her head.
It was Ayanokoji. His usual calm expression barely shifted as he looked down at her.
"S-sorry," Ayaki stammered, quickly getting to her feet, embarrassed by her clumsiness.
Ayanokoji merely nodded, brushing off her apology. But before they could exchange more words, they both spotted Horikita not far away.
"Let's go," Ayanokoji whispered, and Ayaki followed his lead as they quickly ducked behind a nearby wall, watching the scene unfold between the siblings.
Manabu was the first to speak. "Suzune, I didn't think you'd follow me here," he said, his voice as cold as the night air.
"I'm not the useless girl you think I am. I'm here to catch up to you," Horikita responded with a determined expression.
Her brother's gaze was steely as he replied, "Catch up to me? You're in Class D, aren't you? It seems nothing has changed in the last three years. You've always wanted to be like me, but you're blind to your own flaws. Choosing this school was one of your mistakes."
Horikita hesitated, stuttering, "That's not true... I'll make it to Class A, and then..."
But her brother cut her off sharply, "It's impossible. You'll never reach Class A. In fact, your class will crumble. This school isn't as easy as you think it is."
"I'll definitely make it to Class A," Horikita insisted, her voice laced with desperation.
Manabu's expression remained cold and unyielding. "I told you, it's impossible. You're still the unreasonable little sister you've always been." The words struck like daggers, void of any warmth. "No matter how much I avoid you, you're still my little sister. If people find out about our relationship, it would disgrace me. Leave this school immediately."
Horikita's defiance was evident as she retorted, "No, I will... I will make it to Class A."
The tension between them was palpable, and it seemed like things were escalating quickly. Manabu leaned forward menacingly, his posture suggesting he might act on his frustration.
Ayaki felt a surge of anxiety. "Ayanokoji-kun," she murmured, unable to keep quiet any longer.
Without wasting a second, Ayanokoji moved toward the siblings with an impressive burst of speed, grabbing Manabu's arm before he could do anything drastic. Ayaki hurried after him, her heart pounding in her chest.
Manabu looked at them in shock. "Who... are you?"
"Ayanokoji-kun, Fubuki-san..." Horikita's voice was soft, barely able to mask her surprise.
