The plan was simple—at least in theory. Sharon and Y/N would confront Lisa at a location where they could control the environment. After much debate, they decided on the old construction site just outside town, where the skeleton of an unfinished building stood like a relic from the past. It was isolated, far from prying eyes, and had plenty of space for them to maneuver. The plan wasn't without risk, but they had to draw Lisa out, to make her believe that she still held the upper hand.
Sharon prepared herself mentally for the confrontation. It felt surreal, almost like a nightmare she couldn't wake up from. But she knew this was real. She knew that Lisa—or Samantha, or whoever she was—would stop at nothing until she had what she wanted.
The evening before they were set to meet, Sharon sat in her living room with Y/N, going over the details one last time. Kyle was out with friends, blissfully unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. Sharon had made sure he would be safe, far away from what was about to happen.
Y/N looked at Sharon with a seriousness that mirrored her own. "Are you sure you're ready for this?" she asked quietly, placing a hand on Sharon's arm.
Sharon took a deep breath and nodded. "I have to be. I'm tired of living in fear. This ends now, one way or another."
Y/N squeezed her arm reassuringly. "We'll get through this together, okay? We have each other's backs."
The two women shared a moment of understanding. They both knew the risks, the potential for things to go horribly wrong, but there was no turning back now.
The next day dawned with an overcast sky, the sun hidden behind thick clouds that cast an eerie light over the town. Sharon could feel the tension building as the day went on, her nerves raw and her mind racing with possibilities. She and Y/N had gone over every detail, but Sharon knew that no plan survived first contact with the enemy. They had to be ready for anything.
As the afternoon gave way to evening, Sharon and Y/N set out for the construction site. The drive was tense, the silence between them filled with unspoken fears. Sharon gripped the steering wheel tightly, her knuckles white, her heart pounding in her chest. She had been here before, in a sense—facing off against Lisa, knowing that her life hung in the balance. But this time felt different. This time, she wasn't just fighting for herself.
