Alex's POV

My whole night went down the drain, because I couldn't sleep until almost 4 a.m., and there were only three hours left before the alarm clock. So I woke up in an extremely broken state, and it seems that only the presence of my grumpy cat in my bed helped me get some rest during those damn three hours of sleep.

I took a shower, got dressed, drank a hasty cup of coffee in the morning and only miraculously didn't get burned, and went to the place where the damn flying Dutchman was serving his sentence. And I was surprised that Logan texted me this morning. Apparently, he didn't like calling me anymore, because I didn't pick up the phone the first time yesterday. Maybe he took it personally?

After twirling the phone a little in my hands, I still clicked on the button with the still unread message.

"Good morning. Aren't you going to the nuthouse today? And don't ask me how I know, I just know, okay? So that's what I wanted: Will you go to the police station after the visit? If yes, then ask the administrators of the nuthouse to upload the video files to a flash drive, and not write them to disk, otherwise I'll get into that facility myself while I process all the data. Good luck ;)"

The message was sent at 5:13 a.m. Is he not sleeping at all? Although why am I surprised? When I worked in the cybercrime department, I spent very little time sleeping, and instead of blood, energy drinks were flowing through my veins. Ah, what a nice days.

But my goal for today is much further away than the station, so I'll have to use my car. And the weather is extremely bad today, so my McLaren GT won't just have to stand in the garage. After getting into the car, I didn't stop by the police station, because I had collected the warrant and all the necessary documents yesterday, and went straight to the place of detention of Verstappen.

The journey turned out to be quite long – due to the weather, many people decided to use their personal transport today, so traffic jams were found on almost every street. Still, it's a good thing that I didn't arrange a visit in advance and didn't set a time, otherwise I would definitely be late. As it is, I'm standing in traffic, listening to some pop music on the radio, and trying to figure out what and how to do after a visit to the nuthouse. Uh, to a place of detention. Damn, Logan's got that stupid word stuck to me now.

When I arrived at my destination, I wasn't even surprised by its appearance. I've never been to places like this, so the first thing that came to mind was Rykers. I wonder if there are many "supervillains" planted here by such "Spider-Men" as our Charles? And in general, I wonder if such comparisons have only occurred to me? For the first time in several hours, I smiled without a hint of irritation, then left the parking lot and moved to the entrance to the building.

A security guard checked my documents at the entrance, and then a middle-aged woman at the reception desk performed the exact same procedure. She asked me to sign the log, but I said that this was the log I needed.

"I need the records from the visits of one of your former prisoners."

"For what period and what is the last name?"

I handed the woman the warrant, which shows the date when Verstappen was placed here and the date when the escape was committed. She ran her eyes over the sheet and sighed heavily, saying under her breath: "That Verstappen again." I cleared my throat and looked closely at the woman on the other side of the counter.

"That Verstappen again?" What do you mean?"

"It's just that you're not the first person to ask about him."

"Who else asked?"

"Recently, there was a young man who introduced himself as a psychologist from the police station and asked to provide him with records, but no warrant - are no records."
